ERICK'S POV
It's been a month, I haven't met Alexa and it's killing me, now. I miss her so much, I crave her touch, her warmth, the way she blushed, the way her hand fit so perfectly in mine, everything about her.
I've been meeting Angela quite often, around four times a week and I've realised that she isn't bad, actually. She's pretty sweet, to be honest. Mom treats her like her own daughter and seems to like her a lot.
The sun has set and mom has invited Angela over, for dinner, tonight. I'm lying on my bed and reading my biology book, trying to comprehend something as Alexa doesn't teach me and I don't know anyone else who genuinely likes to study biology.
"You need to calm down, I'm fine." I hear Angela's soft voice, outside my window.
After a short pause, she speaks again, "I know that it's a sign, but I think I'll be fine without taking those pills. They make me a different person-" She moves away from her window and her voice gets softer.
Pills? What pills?
I know it's not good to eavesdrop but I can't help myself. I crawl over to the side of my window and sit there. I can hear Angie's voice but she's not talking very loud.
"Please, I don't like how they make me feel. Can't you do anything else, doctor?"
Pause.
"I guess, I'll have to, then." She says in a grave tone and hangs up hurriedly. "Yes, I will. Bye."
There's pin drop silence for a few moments and I hear her scream, "HELL NO, I'D DIE BUT NOT TAKE THAT."
What?
After a moment, I stand in front of the window and call out, "Hey, is everything okay? Why are you yelling?"
She gets startled and she screams loudly, "HI!"
Awkward.
"Um, hey?"
"What are you doing at your window?" She asks quickly and hides her hands behind her back, as if trying to hide something.
"I was just going to ask you when you'll be coming over."
"I'm not even ready, I'll be there in fifteen minutes."
"Take your time." I stuff my hands in my pockets and turn around to walk back to my bed. I sit down and get lost in my thoughts for a while.
She didn't want me to hear her.
She was talking about some pills. What does she need pills for? Why does she not want to take those pills?
I sprint down the stairs and help my mom set the table. I hear a knock at the door, a few minutes later and I open it to see Angie in front of me.
"That was really fast."
"I know." She laughs.
Okay, something's definitely wrong.
I look at her from top to bottom. She's let her hair down and applied makeup, but it's not too much - just some eyeliner and gloss. She's wearing a dark blue dress, which has its bodice covered with lace, not too short, not too long, it looks just perfect on her. She's wearing black heels with her outfit and she twirls around in the doorway before flashing me a smile.
