A Wolf's Tail No. 1 - Stage

28- Doomed

Home sweet home, at long last, relief filled me that we were back on safe land. I had led Bambi and Lyle to the tree I had buried the blanket underneath and after sniffing the ground I could confirm that it was still there its scent of the pack and myself still strong.

A rustling nearby caught mine and Bambi's attention as Bambi stood over the top of Lyle's small frame in a defensive position. While I remained calm taking in the scent I knew too well. Lily's wolf came bundling out of the bushes and crashed into me both our tails wagging and smiles glued to our faces. The impact of her running into me causing us to roll until we landed next to Bambi, looking up at her I saw confusion etched on to her face mixed with uncertainty as she remained over Lyle.

Shoving Lily off me I trotted over to Bambi's wolf form, my tongue hanging out panting, nudging her in the side and looking back at Lily over my shoulder to let her know it was okay. Flopping down onto my stomach so that Lyle could see my face I gave him a wolfy grin causing him to giggle. Crawling out from underneath Bambi he leaned into me putting his arms around my neck gripping onto my fur hugging me. 

After Bambi and Lily had both shifted and spoken to each other it was as if us three had been friends for years. We played with Lyle, I'd listen to their girly conversation adding a nod and a shake of my head here and there. We would playfully mess around in our wolf form's, of course for me there wasn't another option, Lyle's giggles and screams filled the void in the forests the innocence of the child bringing some colour to these dull twisted tree's. 

Our antics came to a halt when Aiden walked into the clearing his fake cough startling us.

" Did my invite to the reunion get lost ?" Ah there was that joking side to Aiden I had grown to miss, for some reason. Shifting back into her human form Lily answered for us.

" Ha-Ha you're hilarious Bambi, Lyle this is my older brother Aiden. Aiden this is Amber's new friends Bambi and Lyle " After Lily's introduction Bambi too shifted back and was soon pulled into a squishing hug by Aiden.

" Any friend of Red's is a friend of mine" He chuckled out letting go of a gasping Bambi who gave a sweet smile in response.

Aiden and Lily filled me in on the latest gossip and shared their story of how we came to meet to Bambi who in return told them of how I had found her and Lyle.

" I guess this is why she was so adamant in leading us here " Lily stated after the storytelling had finished.

" See Aiden I told you she'd be back, I don't know how Alex is going to react to two more Rogues but don't worry we're on your side" Lily replied screaming the first part at her older brother.

Of course, I'd be back Lily how could I leave you guys permanently I thought as I flashed a wolfy grin at them.

" Hey! I never said she wouldn't. I wouldn't doubt my Lil Red for an instant" Aiden protested causing everyone to laugh.

I watched as they smiled carefree and happy while I listened to their laughs meshing together. I allowed myself to forget about the Rogue situation we were in and embrace the people I cared about getting along. Content filled me, and Sky, at the scene in front of us and it was in that bliss moment that I knew we were doomed to protect, care and dare I even say love them.

( While writing that last part I accidentally deleted it all and I am so upset because while I remembered what it said roughly I'm fairly sure the first one was better but oh well the show must go on as they say ! and guess who's back !! so excited to be back and continue writing Stage )
