Her back story says: Meredith Broughton grew up with her rich parents Elizabethan and Bennett Broughton. They were the third richest people in Gotham and had influence over Gotham like Bruce. But one day she was kidnapped and raped in order to get money out of her dad. When she was released and found by Batman, a few weeks later she found out she was pregnant with twins and was kicked out of their house in order to avoid scandals.While out on the streets Meredith she was found by Dick who brought her into the Wayne Manor where Bruce took pity on her and legally adopted her, therefor adding Wayne to her last name. { ADDED } While pregnant Meredith had decided to give up her children because she was 15. Their adoptive parents gave her their consent of visiting them. After healing herself and vigorous training Meredith became the vigilante Blue Jay to stop crimes on the street like armed robberies and prevent other men and women from being raped like her. She does team up time with the Batfamily to stop bigger villains.
