Chapter 5

Kate's alarm went of at 8:00am. It has been three weeks since gates found out. She still hasn't told the boys Laine, though they were growing suspicious. And she had yet to tell her dad, but that would be a battle set aside for later. For now she needed to get up and shower for her appointment. She was taking castle along because she was honestly scared. She has never done any of this before and he had, well kinda, but josh had left and she didn't want to do this on her own, he had offered anyway. Kate got out of the shower and looked in the merrier. She wasn't showing in her regular cloths yet, but when she was naked, she could clearly see the swell in her abdomen. She smiled and ran her hand over her still flat stomach, but her attention was caught when her phone buzzed. She wrapped herself in a towel and went into her bedroom to retrieve her phone. "Beckett."

"Hey, Kate I'll be there in twenty, I bought you a bearclaw." Castle said.

Kate smiled at his gesture, "ok, I might still be getting ready, so you can let yourself in."

"Alrighty, see you."

"Yep." Kate hung up and proceeded getting ready.

Rick soon got to her apartment and he let himself In. "Kate, I'm here!" He called so she wouldn't be surprised when she walked out. Kate had just pulled her shirt over her head and looked in the merrier, satisfied, she walked out to greet Rick. "Hey, ready to go?"

"Yeah, I just have to out my shoes on." She grabbed her boots and sat on the couch to put them on,

"you know, Beckett, you'll have to give those up eventually." Castle said with a smirk.

She glared at him, but broke with a smile. "Yeah, we'll see." She stood up and accepted the bearclaw he held out to her. They headed out the door and got into ricks car. She let him drive, not feeling 100%. When they arrived at the doctors, that's when it hit her. She was pregnant. With joshes baby, and he chose not to be I'm his/hers life. They sat in the waiting room and Rick could sense Kate was uneasy. He laid his hand in her knee and she looked up. He smiled and she smiled back. "Thank you, for being here with me, I don't think I'd be able to do it on my own."

"Always." She was about to speak but a nurse cut her off.

"Katherine Beckett?" Kate stood up and glanced back at Rick when she sensed him not coming. She waved for him to come and he stood up and followed her. "Ok, miss. Beckett, the doctor will be with you soon." The nurse said after taking her temp and blood pressure. Kate sat of the table and Rick took a seat in the chair.

"You ok?" He asked after a moment and she nodded,

"just scared." Kate's doctor entered and smiled.

"so, Kate, what brings you here today?"

"I'm pregnant," she looked at castle and he sensed she needed support, so he got up and went to stand next to her. He draped his arm over her shoulders and she continued, "and well I'm here."

Her doctor nodded, "ok, well, we should do an ultrasound to make sure, and I'll take some blood for tests." She went and grabbed the equipment and asked Kate to lay back and roll her shirt up, which Kate did. She held castles hand firmly, letting him know she was scared as hell. "Ok, Kate, there's not much to see yet, but your about three months along. You should he showing by four four and a half." The doctor looked at the film for a few more seconds and then switched off the machine. She quickly whipped off Kate's stomach and then took some blood from Kate to run some tests to make sure things were normal. "I'll have the nurse being the photos and I'll see you back here in a few weeks." The doc said smiling at Kate and Rick. "And I didn't realize you were with mr. Castle."

"I'm not, he's just support." Kate said and the doctor quickly excused herself.

Rick looked at Kate, "you did good today." Lightly kissing her forehead, he helped her off the table. Since when did he have the right to kiss her head? He didn't, but Kate kinda liked it.
