The next few days had been the living hell for Jisoo, Jungkook still hasn't woken up and her mother basically abandoned her. Not that she could forgive her for what she had done to Jungkook and her. The pack told her, that she was welcome to stay with them for as long as she would like, even forever, but Jisoo was not sure if she wanted to burden them with her presence. She was a human after all and not fit for their lifestyle.
"Baby, I miss you" she muttered softly into Jungkook's hair, as she laid down next to him again, wiping his sweat with a damp towel. Yesterday he had gotten a fever and it worried Nari as well because it would hinder his healing process and therefore also his awakening. Jungkook stirred slightly, almost as if he could hear Jisoo speaking to him. "I hope you wake up soon. I really need you, Jungkook" she sighed, placing a soft kiss on his lips and cuddling into his side. She was just about to drift off into an uneasy slumber when Yoona and Hoseok came in.
"Can I speak to you for a second?" Hoseok softly asked and with a quick glance to Yoona, who started feeding Jungkook blood in a sippy cup, to help him regain his strength, she nodded and followed Hoseok out the door. "Where are all the others?" she asked confused when they stepped out into the corridor. Except for the four of them, nobody was in the house. "They went to Jiyoung's pack to ask for help" Hoseok explained calmly. He leaned against the wall and sighed, his face downcast. "What did you want to talk about?" Jisoo asked softly.
"I'm really sorry for what my father did to you and your family, Jisoo" he finally cracked. He searched her face for an emotion, both not so sure what he was looking for. "Your father?" the girl asked, confused. He nodded shortly. "The alpha, he killed your father" he softly let out and it was only then, that Jisoo understood. The werewolf her mother was the mate of, the alpha of the pack before Namjoon, it was Hoseok's father. "Why are you apologizing?" Jisoo asked with a faint smile. Hoseok was surprised that Jisoo took it so well.
"Because he can't anymore and he wouldn't even if he was still alive. But aren't you sad?" Jisoo shook her head. "I have never really known my father, he died before I had a chance to and as sad as that may sound, that's why I also can't really miss him. You have no reason to be guilty, Hoseok." The boy smiled at that, truly relieved. "I'm glad that you see it that way, Jisoo. I don't want to have any ill thoughts between us, you are now family as well."
She smiled. "But... we aren't siblings are we?" she suddenly asked, because if her mother and his father were mates, that could've been a possibility. He chuckled. "I was the result of frustration after being rejected. There was no love in making me and there was no love in raising me" he grimly smiled. Her smile fell as quickly as it came. "Your mother?" she asked softly, she couldn't believe that not even his mother loved him, what was there not to love about this sunshine? Hoseok just shook his head. Jisoo grimaced, well this was awkward now.
"But we all love you now. All your hyungs and noonas and dongsaengs, we all do." He nodded slowly, a small smile on his lips. "If you don't mind me asking, why aren't you the alpha now after your father died?" This was easier for Hoseok to talk about. "Naturally it would've been his brother, but everyone, including my mother and the mothers of all the other boys, went away after he died. Only us selected few, including Hwayoung and Jin's former mate, stayed here in the cabin. We didn't want to move, we liked it here and we figured, if we didn't kill the townspeople or stole their food, we could coexist happily, which we did. Of course that way it would mean I would be the new alpha, but I didn't think I was fit for the role. I break easily under pressure and I am not the bravest, so I asked Namjoon to fill that position for me. We all trust him and I never once regretted the decision to ask my dongsaeng to be my alpha."
Hoseok seemed a lot happier now, smiling at Yoona, as she left the room to do the dishes. Standing was slowly becoming too tiresome, so the two slid down the wall and sat down next to each other. "But how are you, Jisoo? I know it must be hard for you now... Jungkook not waking up and all..." he cast her a sympathetic look and Jisoo grimaced. "Yeah, I could really need a shoulder to cry on right about now. My boyfriend was almost fatally shot and my mother abandoned me, I've had better weeks" she sighed. "I can be your shoulder to cry on for the time being?" he offered with a slight smile, opening his arms for Jisoo to crawl into. She took a second to consider, but then she took up on his offer, burying her face in his chest. She sighed, closing her eyes and trying to relax. He softly stroked her back, resting his cheek on her head. "He will be fine soon, chipmunk" he assured her softly.
Jungkook watched the two cuddle on the floor next to his room, both of their eyes closed and holding each other tight. A small flare of jealousy sparked in his chest, but he knew his hyung would never make a move on Jisoo. He had his own mate and he respected his. A small smile made his way onto his face and he softly leaned against the doorframe. He felt bad for leaving her so long, especially after everything her mother had said and done. She must've been really lonely. "And here I thought you would wait for me" he finally spoke up, laughing quietly to himself, as both his hyung and his mate bolted up in surprise upon hearing his words.
Jisoo just stared at him for a few long seconds. Jungkook chuckled, opening his arms wide. "Yep, it's me. You are not seeing things" he confirmed and watched, as her eyes started to pool with tears and the next second she was bawling. Jungkook moved as quickly as his wound allowed him to, to wrap her in his embrace. He didn't want to admit it to himself, but his wounds still hurt like a bitch. His need to see her was just worse than the pain, so he stood up to search for her when he woke up and she was not there.
"Sh, baby, sh... I am here and I won't leave again. I'm sorry, you hear me? I'm sorry for leaving you all alone. I am here now though, please stop crying, love" he soothed her quietly, rocking her from side to side, his face in her neck. "Everything is okay. Everything is okay now" he whispered over and over again and suddenly he was also crying. "I thought I had lost you" she whimpered when her sobs had quieted down a little. "You will never lose me, baby. I refuse to die and leave you alone. I refuse" he repeated, the tears falling and falling from both their eyes.
