How did it all come to this? From the moment you saw him, he was a complete mystery to you, and you to him. But you couldn't deny that strange attraction, that fluttering in your heart whenever you heard the bell of the shop door in the morning, 7:00 on the dot each day. You still remembered that first day he startled you.

You were in the back of the coffee shop and hadn't heard anyone enter. It was your first day working the morning shift, as the previous barista had a conflict with the early hours. And you would be all alone running the shop until 8:30.

You hummed quietly as you carried in a box of cups from the back, setting them down with a thud as you neared the cash register.

"You're new,"

You almost squeaked as you looked up at the man glowering down at you. He had slipped into the shop unnoticed, almost cat-like as he eyed you with a calculating glare. There was something about his gaze that scrambled your insides with anxiety, maybe even fear. But, at the same time, he was so alluring. That sleek golden hair with a small curl draping over his long lashes, those cold blue eyes, the way he so properly held his strong frame in that sleek suit was a striking periwinkle. But you recollected your focus to take his order.

"Yeah." You smiled sweetly up at him, but his steely eyes continued to size you up. You shrugged it off, maybe that was just who he was. Everyone had their little quirks, and just because he appeared to be a bit strange didn't mean he was trying to be rude. "What would you like today, sir?"

"Triple espresso." His words were terse and his voice biting as he placed a several coins on the counter.

"Will that be it for you sir?"

"Yes."

"That'll be 200¥." You maintained your usual cheery composure as you rung the order up and counted the change."Thank you for your–"

You gasped. His fingers brushed against yours only for a second, but in that second he held your hand so gently in his, his eyes seeming to spark with intrigue. His skin was so soft, almost cold to the touch, and could almost hear your blood pumping in your ears as your heart quickened.

Then, within a flash, he was gone. He walked to the window, placing those elegant hands in his pockets as he gazed at the street. You paused to stare at him for a moment: his strong, broad shoulders, the silhouette of his hips against the sunlight, the way his pants tightened around his firm–

Slow down there! You told your thoughts and you scrambled to the espresso machine. It's just some guy, just a customer. You can't go throwing your heart at every man who walks through the door! You looked up again at that handsome figure as the mug began to fill. But you still remembered that electric feeling as your hands met...

You remembered it every day at 7:00 when your first customer arrived.

"The usual, Mr. Kira?"

"Yes please, dear (y/n)."

You had gradually become more comfortable with each other. His stern and stubborn demeanour seemed to soften every time you handed him the change, though you still struggled to hide the blush on your cheeks.

He watched you as you prepared the cup, sometimes striking up a casual conversation about the weather, events in Morioh, how business was faring. And you always served him with that sweet smile, which was no longer just a feigned politeness: it was a genuine smile. You truly enjoyed seeing him enter each morning. And he seemed to enjoy your company.

He began to invite you to sit with him. You were reluctant at first, not wanting to appear idle should one of your coworkers suddenly enter, but he was so courteous, so gentle and refined. And so it continued each day.
