CHAPTER 14: LOST MEMORIES
I felt his warmth again.
----------
Ah, rooftops...
The view from above was truly overwhelming. The wind furiously pressed against my face, my breathing conscious and exerted. I walked towards the edge for a better look, and as I looked upon the miniature Tokyo streets from the helipad of my hotel, for a moment I felt as if I was a supernatural being ready to take flight.
Yes, I believed that I was one for that subtle moment – dressed in fancy clothes one could only see in superhero movies, weapons and gears equipped from head to foot, the cold gust exacerbated by the chilly Silver Coat. For this mission, I needed an overflowing amount of confidence, ego, and reassurance. For this revenge, I had to learn how to take flight.
Although rooftops reminded me of things that happened in the past, of things that I tried hard to suppress, I pushed back these memories with utmost effort. No, this was not the time to reminisce.
And so, I pushed the little button on Smoke's headphones. A glass panel appeared before my eyes, showing a gridded map. With further survey, I finally located my target location – the 77th wing of the Nakashima Business Tower.
A robotic voice sounded on my headphones.
77th wing clear. Security barrier has been taken down.
"Good," I answered as I pulled out two black rods from my coat.
Ayane-chan... Be careful...
With both Chris and Rei on the Spider Web working as my 'third eye', I pushed the buttons of the black rods on my grasp. Iron ropes zoomed out from each of them, their forked ends clasping tight onto the window of the 77th wing two hundred meters away from where I stood. After pulling the rods to check if they were mounted as strong as they ought to be, I leaped off from the building like an eagle descending from the velvet sky. With increasing velocity, I felt the wind pressing against my weight. I ended the victor upon successfully landing with such ease. I was careful not to make heavy footsteps. I stepped back just a little to hide myself as four security personnel passed by the corridor.
I decided to stay in stealth for now, careful not to make too much noise. And so, I pulled out four melting poison darts from my coat and readied each of them between my fingers. As they approached the lift, I hopped onto the ramp on their rear. I did not give them the opportunity to turn around. With one swift wave of my hand, I sent the darts onto the thin air, aiming towards them with perfect accuracy.
Tack.
Tack.
Tack.
Tack.
The Lethal Lily Melting Darts perforated their skulls. I walked pass their bodies suffering from uncontrollable spasm - their death countdown. I did not waste my time looking down on the soon-to-be-corpses.
Take the lift on the left.
I entered the lift. Even before the door closed, the four men stopped their tremors and ultimately expired.
The cargo lift to the underground storage is found on the 25th floor, yo.
Take the 52th floor exit, and then go to the staircase at 8'o clock position.
Yo, there are hordes of Spectra men patrolling around the 25th floor.
Elevators are blocked from the 50th floor down.
