There I was again tonight
forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old, tired, lonely place.

---•°•---

The room was packed and every royalty and guests of high status were present. Balls and Banquets usually brought a smile upon the heir of Arendelle but not tonight. This ball was different from the rest and she hated it.

"Princess Elsa of Arendelle!"

The Eighteen year old princess lifted her hand in a graceful wave and faced the crowd with her royal smile just like she was trained to do in royal gatherings.

She wasn't a rebel and she wasn't really obedient, she was stubborn but her stubbornness won't help her out this time. This was her destiny and her duty as the future Queen.

Once she arrived to her place, in the center of the room, the announcer continued on.

"The Princes and Gentlemen from the neighboring kingdoms and islands will each have their turns to dance with the Princess."

Elsa kept her smile as she tucked her gloved hands in front of her. Her blue eyes scanned the room and she gulped at the long line of men waiting to have their chance with her. This is gonna be a long night.

"At the end of tonight's ball it is expected that the future King of Arendelle shall be known."

Her eyes widened at that...they couldn't be serious, right? It's impossible to just dance and talk with a guy then pick one to be king.

But before she could speak, the orchestra started playing that the first man in line walked closer to her and greeted her with a charming smile which she returned.

He danced well but he was too flirtatious with all his lip biting and purring that made her wanna push him away. The second was too shy and was a stuttering mess that he stepped on her multiple times.

The third was too bubbly and energetic and he smelled like smoke and cigarettes, it took every ounce of her energy not to recoil.

The night was danced away until only one man was left for her to dance with. She only got to admire one man but it was only because he smelled good and looked neat and was genuinely smiling at her as they danced.

If this last guy screws up, she'll have to go with that neat man and make him her future husband and king.

The Princess flashed her smile at the last man which he returned with a weak one. He took her outstretched hand and kissed the top momentarily before gripping on it and placing his other hand on her waist.

His touch somehow made her suck in a breath and blink. Elsa placed her free hand on his shoulder which was very firm under her touch. She let out a soft chuckle.

"Take a breath, sir. There is no need to be so tense." She whispered as they swayed with the music.

He did as he was told and looked down at her.

"Better?" She teased.

He chuckled, "Much. Thank you, Your Highness."

She nodded in reply. They stayed silent for a second before he decided to suck it up and just go with the flow.

"You're so beautiful, Your Highness." He complimented and celebrated for his success of not stumbling over his words.

She smiled ever so gracefully at him, "Thank You. You look dashing....sir?"

"It's Hiccup...Hiccup Haddock of the island of Berk." He supplied.

"Ah, the son of the chief, I believe?" She asked as he spun her.

"Indeed, Your Highness." He answered, pulling her closer.

"How are you doing Sir Hiccup?" She blurted out.

"I'm doing well, thank you. How about you?"

She chuckled, "Can I be honest with you?"

He nodded instantly and she tilted her head slightly towards her feet.

"My shoes are killing me at the moment."

Hiccup chuckled and picked her up to spin her mid air. She gasped and held on to him before she laughed louder than intended. The people around them gasped and stared in awe.

"Kick them off now so it would seem you dropped them." He whispered to her.

She kicked the wretched sparkly heels off and grinned down at the brunette. He placed her back down and they continued to dance, her being barefoot now.

"That was really clever, sir!" She breathed out.

He winked playfully "You're welcome!"

She chuckled once again.

This night is sparkling, don't you let it go. I'm wonder struck, blushing all the way home. I'll spend forever wondering if you knew...

They danced for a few more moments until the song finally comes to an end.

The two bowed to each other, with huge smiles on their faces. She may have found the future king after all.

This night is flawless, don't you let it go. I'm wonder struck, dancing 'round all alone. I'll spend forever wonderin' if you knew I was enchanted to meet you.
