*Troye POV*
Present time, just before leaving for San Francisco
Tyler and I have had a bumpy friendship since those first few hang-out sessions at Playlist. Not bumpy as in we fight a lot, more like we always end up drunk and making out or sober and I'm so nervous I can't even speak properly. We'd never gotten any further than making out though, even drunk Tyler was very strict about how far he was willing to go. I knew he wasn't like this with everyone, just me. I liked to tell myself it was because I meant more to him than just a hook-up, but in reality it was probably how much younger than him I was. You don't know how many nights I have wished I was born a few years earlier.
"Troye Sivan! Answer me!" Tyler snapped, making it apparent I'd completely zoned out and ignored him. I looked up from my suitcase, at the screen, and smiled at him.
"What?" I said, rolling my eyes at his annoyed expression.
"I told you to click that link." Tyler said, opening his eyes as wide as they could go to give me a death stare. I reached across the bed to get to the computer and paused when I seen Tyler open his mouth to speak.
"I can see down your shirt. Scandalous!" Tyler teased, gasping for dramatic effect. I ignored his teasing and clicked the link.
"Awh, this is cute!" I gushed, looking at the Troyler moments collage he had sent me. But really I was more enthralled about the fact he must have been creeping the Troyler tag.
"I thought so. So, are you almost done packing?" I glanced down at the suitcase and nodded.
"For the most part, yeah, what about you?" I say, looking up at him eagerly. He blushed before shaking his head.
"You know me, I don't even start until an hour before the flight."
"Well maybe you should get out of the habit. You could be packing right now while we're Skyping."
"I'm sorry if I want to give my full undivided attention to you." Tyler giggled, looking at me with the usual sparkle in his eyes when he was being flirty.
"And you can, after you've packed and we're together in San Francisco." Tyler snorted, but nodded slowly.
"Well, I can't multi-task for crap so I guess I'd better leave you." I winced. I guess I shouldn't have bothered him about packing after all.
"If you must." I said, trying not to show how upset I was about it. I knew we'd still text after he ended the call, there was rarely a second a day that we weren't communicating by some means, but that wasn't enough. I loved Skype because I got to see his reactions to everything I said.
"Aw, babe, don't be too upset, we'll see each other soon enough." Tyler said, blowing a kiss to the screen.
"Bye, Tilly."
"See ya." He said, ending the call before he even finished speaking. I frowned to myself but I knew it was for the best. I'd been way too distracted by him while packing, that's judging by the amount of things I'd packed that didn't even fit me any longer. I emptied my suitcase to start fresh when my phone buzzed. I grinned cheekily, already knowing who it was.
"Miss you already." I rolled my eyes when I seen the amount of kissy face emoji's he had added but all the same it was sweet. It had gotten to the point I had to mentally remind myself we weren't dating sometimes.
"I miss you too." I said aloud while I typed it. I jumped when I heard a sigh behind me.
"Steele! When'd you get here?" I say, dropping my phone nervously.
"Just now... Who were you texting?" Steele was the only member of the Mellet family that wasn't a fan of Troyler. He liked Tyler but he was convinced that Tyler was going to break my heart for whatever reason. I believe his reasoning was something like, 'Tyler isn't looking for a serious relationship' or 'Tyler has so much more experience than you, you'll feel like an idiot with him'.
"It was Tyler." What else was I supposed to tell him? My family knew me better than I knew myself. If it wasn't obvious I was lying by my facial expression they'd know due to the fact Tyler was the only person I'd been interested in since eighth grade.
"Mom tells me he's decided to meet up with us in San Fran?" Steele said before sitting on the edge of my bed. It was obvious how excited he was just by the tone of his voice.
"Yeah, I'm not in the states often and he doesn't want to miss an opportunity." I mumble, not wanting to look him in the eyes. I stare at my hands only to notice I'd been absentmindedly fumbling my thumbs. I felt like I could feel Steele's judgmental eyes burning into me.
"Just be careful, Troye, I don't want you to get hurt." He whispered, wrapping an arm around my shoulders and pulling me into him. I bit at my lip but nodded into his embrace.
"I know, but I think you just have your perception of Tyler messed up. I swear he's a nice guy."
"I never said he wasn't a nice guy, I just said he wasn't the guy for you." Steele said confidently before standing up and rustling my hair.
"Don't worry, Troye, you're young yet, you'll find the right guy." But I already have. I watched him leave the room without another word, closing the door behind him. I squinted, in deep thought, desperately hoping Steele's opinion toward us would change when he met Tyler.
A/n: Wow, Steele. Wut r u doing? Steele stahp. OkaY, COMMENT AND VOTE. LOVE YOU, OKAY.
