Lena's POV, Monday morning after the Yule Ball
~~~~
I kissed Professor Snape.
That was the only thought I could think as I dressed for breakfast, and for classes, this morning.
I don't know what came over me.
What the hell is happening?
I go around kissing teachers now? And not just any teacher, the teacher I despise the most?
Lena, what were you thinking?!
"I obviously wasn't thinking clearly." I muttered out loud this time.
I couldn't just pin this all on me though, Professor Snape was just as involved.
I clenched my fists.
What is he playing at? One day he hates me, and the next he's kissing me?This was all so confusing.
*******
I sighed rather heavily, as I sat down next to Alex at breakfast, laying my head on the table, and closing my eyes.
I could hear Alex chuckle from beside me.
"Why so glum, chum?" He asked.
I re-opened my eyes, forcing a small smile.
"I didn't sleep very well last night, you know, the usual." I replied, smoothly lying through my teeth. I trusted Alex entirely, but I didn't feel like I could indulge him in this particular secret.
Alex rose an eyebrow, nodding. "Very well, I'll pretend like you're telling me the truth, and just ask you if you had fun at the Yule Ball with me."
I rolled my eyes, and shot him a glare. "Oh, shove off. I am telling you the truth. And yes, I had a lot of fun at the Yule Ball with you, Alex. Thank you for forcing me to come." I said with a smirk.
He playfully shoved me. "You're very welcome, Lena."
I sat up straight, and started putting breakfast food on my plate.
I tried to ignore it, but I could feel him staring at me.
Damn it.I discreetly glanced over my shoulder, and sure enough, Professor Snape was looking at me. In what way, I couldn't tell...but really, who can ever tell what that man is thinking?
I internally sighed, and turned back around to finish my breakfast.
**********
"I could crawl faster than you're walking."
I glared at Alex, as he looked at me in amusement. "Shut it."
Alex laughed at me. "Then hurry up, we have to get to Potions."
At that word, I felt my heart start racing.
I groaned aloud, as Alex gripped my arm, and pulled me along towards the Potions Classroom.
We were the first two students to arrive, and I took a moment to actually look around the room.
I never realized how visually appealing the Potions Classroom was to me.
I internally rolled my eyes at myself, as Alex and I took our seats.
Not long after, more students started filing in.
After a few moments, filled with silence, Professor Snape strode in from a side door.
I bit my tongue to keep myself together.
This was the first time we were in the same place since the night of the Yule Ball.
All of these emotions took over my body, but I took a breath to calm myself down.
I looked down at my notebook, starting to write as Snape started to teach.
If luck was on my side, I would be able to get through this class, without having to look or speak to him.
"Miss Blackwood."
So much for that notion.
I looked up, my gaze leveling with his, despite my nervousness.
"Pay attention." He growled.
I nodded, but didn't say anything in response.
I don't think I would have been able to.
********
When class ended, I collected my things, and proceeded to follow Alex out the door.
"Miss Blackwood."
I sighed in frustration, as Alex stifled a laugh at me.
I glared, flipping him off.
I watched him leave the classroom, and as soon as he did, the door shut, locking itself.
I turned around, stone filling my eyes. He doesn't need to know.
"Yes, Professor?" I replied, crossing my arms over my chest, my books securely in my bag.
"It would serve you well to pay attention in this class." Professor Snape snapped.
I rolled my eyes, giving him a look. "Oh cut the shit, sir. Speak what you really need to say."
Professor Snape sat forward, folding his hands on his desk.
"There is nothing to speak about. What occurred was a mistake. I'm sure you feel as such, Miss Blackwood."
I ignored the painful sting in my chest at the word 'mistake'.
However, I didn't let it show that it hurt, instead, I smirked sardonically.
"I most certainly do, Professor. Was there anything else?"
Professor Snape cleared his throat, looking awkward. "That is all, Miss Blackwood. You may leave."
I smiled sweetly, poison lacing my lips.
I turned around, and waved my hand. The door flew open, and I walked through it, exiting the classroom.Snape's POV
That was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
