XXXIX.Surrender

As a change of atmosphere, Achlys decided to hold a party for Christmas and invited everyone else. Being a family full of connections, as an Ouma, she had access to one of the most beautiful cottages near their town. Renting it for free, the class will gather in the cottage.

"You're all invited to my party, I hope everyone comes." - Achlys' message to her friends.

As everyone received her short and plain message, Karma stared at her message for a short while before typing down his reply.

Back to Achlys, while she was staring at the mirror, thinking back about her life in the past, with her family and her cousin. "A present for him.." she whispers. All of a sudden, her phone vibrated on the bed and immediately took her attention. Slowly, she walks over to pick it up and reads the message.

"Let's go out on a date before we party with everyone else this week" - Karma's message.

Achlys stares at the text message for a few moments.. and then she suddenly drops her body against the bed and buries her face on her pillow. "Why do you do this to me?" She said in a shy tone of voice and a very bashful face.

Finally, upon meeting with her beloved boyfriend, Achlys finds him waiting for her in a cafe, she walks up to him and suddenly she seemed startled after seeing him sip some coffee. His eyes widen in curiosity as to why she seems surprised.

"A-Are you a ghoul? Do you plan on.. e-eating me?" Achlys covers her mouth as she asks him with a devastated look on her face. "(A gloomy looking quiet cafe with an eerily calming ambience on a slightly snowy day with only a few customers.. is this what I think it is..?!)" She panics inside her mind.

Karma puts down his mug of coffee and stands up, he walks behind her and places his hands on her shoulders. Gently, he starts pushing her towards her seat and slightly pushes her down, instructing her to sit. Achlys, as usual, obeys him. Karma silently goes back to his own seat.

"Hah.. I knew this day would come." Karma smirks at her devastated face. He crosses his arms and legs and speaks in a proud tone of voice.

"Omg.." Achlys feels her heart beat rush.

"I thought I should tell you the truth soon." Karma closes his eyes.

"I volunteer as tribute!" Achlys says in an usual high pitch of voice, surprising the other customers and the workers in the cafe.

There was silence due to her sudden words, but Karma and Achlys remains perfectly calm and in control of the situation. Paying no more attention, the people in the cafe goes back to minding their own business.

"Achlys... you really.. think that's okay..?" Karma's eyes was half open and he seems to be speaking in a dramatic voice.

Achlys nods and her eyes seemed teary. "Yes.. you can feed on me.. even if you are a ghoul.. I.. I volunteer as your food.." She stares at his eyes as she spoke with determination.

Silence occurs once again and all of a sudden, Karma starts laughing while Achlys only stares at him. Karma almost seemed to start crying because of his laughter. Now, he stops and looks back at her with his usual smile. "Okay, that's enough. But seriously, that's enough anime, my sugar sweet Achlys."

"Okay then my beloved Karma." Achlys smiles back at him and says in a sweet tone of voice.
