"YURI, DON'T LOSE FOCUS!"
Shit !
Falling into the ice, its lack of warmth striking his skin ;
I need to be better than this! I want to be better than this! This isn't enough!
---
It has been a week since then. The Grand Prix is nearing. It's the year 2015. Plisetsky, Russian Junior. Nikiforov, Russian Senior. Coach; Yakov. Two days are left for the participants.
"Let's both get the gold, Yuri," Viktor smiled at him during break.
I suck. I can't win this.
"See me at the highest platform as I bite that gold, Viktor." Yuri smirked, completely hiding his thoughts - his self-consciousness, his doubts.
They all have expectations. I can't do it. I can't meet their expectations. I can't win.
--
"Have a candy." Valerie offered, sitting beside me.
"...thanks." I say, and popped the sweet flavor into my mouth.
"I know this is kind of privacy-intrusive and all," Valerie started. "But do you mind if I ask you something?"
I look at her. "Sure... go ahead."
"Is there something bothering you?"
Crap. Of all the things she could've asked. I must admit, there is something that bothers me, but the fact that I have no idea what bothers me bothers me even more.
For some reason, I can't focus when skating. Is it the pressure? It shouldn't be. I have joined this many times already. Then what is it?
"Yuri?" I hear her voice. "Oh, sorry," I reply.
"Whatever it is, I'll listen." She said. I sighed. "There is something, but I don't have a clue of what it is..."
Damn. Why am I sharing my thoughts with this girl?
"Maybe it's just pressure?"
"No," I reply. "It can't be."
"Is there something this year that isn't in the last year?"
My eyes shot open. I look at her.
Valerie Alekseev, it's probably you.
"I think I've got a clue now," I tell her. But if she's the reason I can't focus, then how should I do this? I can't just shoo her away. And I wouldn't like that.
She's Russia's junior ladies. If she's gone...
Then Russia won't have a participant for junior ladies, which is a complete shame. We have to bring victory into our country. That's all there is to it. Winning is everything.
I need to face this. "Valerie," I tell her. She looks at me. "Did you finally figure it out?"
"Yes," I reply. "And..." I stare at her.
Our eyes meet each other; "And?" She says, her face pink, I don't know if it's because of the sudden temperature decrease inside the rink or if it's because of...
Argh, damn. Enough of this, YURI! You need to concentrate. You need to win.
"PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH THIS," I told her as I clasped her hands.
- val's -
D-did he just ask me to... help him? This isn't like him at all!
And above all that, he just held both of my hands. I still haven't took off my eyes from him. And he's still staring at me. His eyes showed a strong emotion. . . a negativity that contradicted my positive aura. He wants to win, that's for sure. But why is anger all I feel? Is rage the source of his power? All this time, was his motivation pure hatred?
What is he skating for? What is his reason?
I can feel my eyes widen in fear. All this negativity is just too much. I can feel myself shake. "Val? Oi!" He shouts, his voice echoing in the currently deserted rink.
. . .

"Val? Oi!" I shout. What happened? I feel all my emotions sink down and all my thoughts disappearing like bubbles.
I need to. . . take care of this girl.
For the sake of Russia. For the sake of winning. Yes, winning is everything.
Unconsciously, her head softly fell on my chest. I supported her back and pulled her closer. What should I do? No one's here, and I can't leave Valerie alone.
I gently leaned my head on her shoulder. "Wake up, baka," I whisper.
"Yuri. . ." She mumbles as she held onto my shoulder, followed by a few little groans.
"You're so cute when you do that," I told h- wait, WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST . . .

"You're so cute when you do that," Yuri tells Valerie.
The Alekseev's eyes widen upon hearing his voice, blushing furiously. Still holding onto his shoulder, she tried to face Yuri and look at him in the eye."Wh-"
She stares at Yuri's eyes, completely frozen. Yuri Plisetsky is still her all-time idol, and she wanted to be close to him.
Not this close!
She nearly mentally cursed to herself as she felt his surprisingly minty yet warm breath hit her lips.
On the punk's case, he starts to tense up, staring at her dark brown eyes. One wrong move here, and then bang. Without being aware of his actions, his right hand supporting her back started to go up to her cheeks.
His hand slightly gripping her cheeks, Yuri very unconsciously leaned forward a bit, causing Valerie to lean backward. And before Yuri lost himself, he snapped out and quickly backed away, blushing a little. "S-sorry," he managed to utter between tension, almost hearing every beat his heart pumps.
"Can we pretend this never happened?" Yuri silently asked, now facing the rink in front of him.
"No." Valerie replied.
Yuri sighed. "I'm really sorry. I have no idea what just came over me."
Hearing her heartbeat go louder, Valerie replies, "Right."
"AMIGOS!!" Viktor suddenly barged into the rink, shouting as if he knew that no one was there. "Oh, you guys are alone?"
"Obviously," Yuri snapped at him.
"Mhm, what were you doing eh?" Viktor smirked. "Oi Yuri, I have the protection here in case you need it."
Yuri's blush couldn't get any deeper. "You little bastard, holy shiiiit..." He mumbled to himself.
"Grand Prix is tomorrow already, amigo," Viktor told him. "Are you ready?"
What I planned was to make Valerie critic my performance, Yuri thought. But now I can't ask her to do that!
"I'm more than ready," Yuri lied.
"Good enough." The consecutive champion lied as he looked at the junior with dissatisfaction. "Don't pressure yourself. Get a lot of rest. Same goes to you, Valerie. Well, gotta go."
Yuri cringed. How am I supposed to sleep tonight with this?
