Chapter 3 The Offer or blackmail, or BOTH!

Crap we are so screwed I though as I turned around. Standing in front of me was the one, the only,  drumroll please! Batman! As thives who just stole a 40 million dollar diamond, we're doomed.

He just stood there. No he was sizing us up probably thinking how to defeat us the quickest. The silence was awkward, no painful. So being the idiot that I am. I do something so stupid it amazes everyone! And somehow give me an upper hand.

"Did you forget your lines." I stage whisper.

"Yes!" Kitty whispers back.

That shocks Cb into reality "How long how you been watching us!?" she demands to the shadow in front of us.
"Long enough to know about the museum." a dark deep voice answered. It was weird I know that voice, but from where? But HEY I was right we were being watched! I told you I wasn't paranoid!

"Give the diamond to me and I'll give you an offer that will makes this all disappear." his voice said.

"Fine."I said, "WHAT!" Crossbow and Kat whisper screamed at me. Even Batman was a little shocked.

"Come on we can't escape with it, give me the diamond." I reached out my hand, both of them looked at me like I was insane but they gave it to me. I looked in the sack,  closed it then tossed it to him.

"Good now I have an offer for you. Instead of going to jail like I should do, Casey, Susan, Kat,  " We all get tense ready to run.  He knows who we ARE. He continues calmly "but your good, good at what you do, good at saving people. Good theifs. I'm offering you to join a covert team,  who take special missions, teenagers with powers who do things the league  can't. You three have special skills so I'm offering you one chance. One chance to not go to jail." he fell silent at that.

We heard sirens in the distance. Saw the flashing lights. The Birds of Prey looked at each other. We all nodded

"Fine we're in!" I yelled

"Follow me, I'll explain more," he turned and claimed into the roof. I barely caught what he said next but no one else did. "Time to go have that meeting with Canary."

"This is black mail! " I said to myself.

We ran across the roof tops. I kept studying the legend in front of me. He stood,  walked,  talked in a way I knew. I called on my powers, looked at him an animal would. Inhaled his scent. I did know him but where? I repeated his words. That it the scent it was a $80 aftershave, the only person I know who where's that is! GASP! oh my god I know who Batman is!

I motioned to the girls I was going up to talk in private with the bat, and to stay back.

"Hey Bats," I slide up beside him. He just glanced down. "so...  I've always heard you were a great detective. I guess that how you know who we are?" He looked at me suspiciously, and nodded. "Oh well I just wanted to say good job, and you wear reallllly expensive aftershave I mean I know your rich Bruce but that much for a tiny bottle? That's just impossible!"

He looked down at me shocked, then he laughted.

"I knew I liked you."he exclaimed, but then he frowned. "Did you-"
"No only I know, your secrets safe with me." I told him. "So Black Canary is part of this."

"What! You know about- of course you do. You'll be a great detective with a little training." he told me.

"Ehhhhhh I think I prefer spy... " I said.

"Canary's gonna like you." he said as he jumped from the roof we just ran across. We were now maybe 5 miles from the museum now but the girls and I were still nervous.

The Birds of Prey copes to things with jokes and sarcasm. That what we're like, that's are friendship, that's are defense mechanism.

"Its a trap he brought us here to kill us!" Kitty joked.

"Your right we're gonna die!I'll never breath again! " Crossbow added.

"Peter would probably throw a party if I stopped breathing." I tell them

Kitty catches the reference and says "I would only go if there's cake."

We both smile and high five. Because we're ultimate fan girls. Susan sometimes joins too. She just looks at us cause this is normal while Batman's just staring. When he finally says something all it is is "divergence, really. Anyway where here where is she!"

"Who?" they both ask. I stay quiet this time listening.

"She's here." I say suddenly watching the Harley Davidson come around the cornor. A strong blond comes to us up and down. Turns to Bruce and says.

"So these are the Birds of Prey. Its about time you stuck another girl in the team besides Miss Martion. And these girls I can spare with.  some boxing here, martial arts there."

I just looked strait at Batman "You didn't tell me she was this awesome, just that she'd like me!!!"

"Really huh Batman approve of you, and think we be a good match? Well I might have to try that. So what are your names? Gotta know when we," she motioned to Batman and herself "to the team tonight. Its gonna be great because they have no clue what's going on."

"Nightshade,"Bats looked at me "Kitty," nodded to her "and Crossbow." did the same.

Wow she great! Wait hold up did she say-

"What tonight!" I shouted "We're  starting tonight!"

"No." Canary said she glanced at Bruce, and nodded.

Batman walked towards a broken photo booth that I didn't notice.
