"Wendy, why do you have so many pictures of Dipper on your phone?"
"Soos! Gimme that back!" Wendy exclaimed, desperately trying to snatch her cellphone back from Soos, who had innocently claimed to be playing some games on the apps she had just a few minutes before.
"Oh yeah, it's because you looooove him!" Soos crowed, tossing it back to Wendy like he was tossing a biscuit to a dog.
Wendy caught the device seconds before it could make contact with the wooden floor of the Gift Shop. She landed on her stomach, arms and legs sprawled out like a spider. She heaved a sigh of relief and took a second to breathe normally again.
"Uh. . . what're you doing on the floor?" Mabel asked from behind the cash register.
Wendy quickly scampered to her feet and dusted off her jeans and straightened her shirt along with her hat. She quickly pocketed her phone.
"Nothing, Soos was messing with my phone and nearly dropped it," she said, shooting him a dirty glare.
Soos smiled mischievously and returned to his original job of fixing he vending machine.
Wendy looked at Mabel nervously and said in a low voice, "you didn't, um, overhear anything. . . did you?"
Mabel's eyes trailed up from her fashion magazine to the ceiling before shaking her head. "Nope."
Wendy heaved a relieved breath and returned to restocking the shelves. That moment of chaos had quite possibly forever scarred her of procrastinating ever again.
The Gift Shop door creaked open and the welcoming bell began chiming in greeting of the new customer.
"Uh, excuse me, I don't know how you got in, but we don't open for another hour. Can I help you?" Wendy asked, turning to the girl who walked in.
The girl was tall with long curly blonde hair and bright blue eyes, her face painted in perfect makeup. She looked like she had just stepped out of the magazine Mabel was reading. She smiled a perfect, sweet smile that matched her perfect doll-like face.
"Don't worry, Dipper gave me his keys so I could meet him here," she said, showing Wendy her set of silver keys on the heart shaped chain she had attached to her purse.
"How do you know Dipper?" Wendy asked, a little more bitterly than she meant for it to come out.
The girl's laugh sounded like the bell that had chimed when she had arrived.
"I'm his girlfriend, Pacifica."
Wendy felt her jaw drop open. She fumbled with the box of snow globes she had just picked up. One fell out and shattered on the floor, spilling glittery goop all over Pacifica's heels.
"OHMYGOSH!" Wendy exclaimed, setting aside the box and searching for a roll of paper towels from the janitor's closet. She grasped a roll and dove to Pacifica's feet, quickly mopping up the mess of glue-like liquid.
