"My hunters license..." I marveled looking at the card in my hands. It wasn't made of anything special that I knew of but....it was everything. Now I could start the process of reclaiming a life for myself. "I did it. Daddy....I did it." I said almost in tears. How proud would he be if he was here right now?
"There you are my little toy! I was wondering where you had run off to." Hisoka said walking up to where I was sitting beneath a tree. "Come along now, I have plans for the day." He said. I nodded putting the card in my bra standing up. I followed him out into the city huddling closer to him out of discomfort. We walked to a clothing store for woman. He looked around while I wondered what the heck was going on. Then he pushed me to the back where there was a changing both. "Try these on." He ordered leaving me stunned. I didn't think he would be willing to buy me new clothes. I immediately discarded all the skirts from the pile not a fan of flashing my underwear. I tried on a pair of tight black pants with a skull buckled belt and a low cut V-neck deep purple shirt with butterfly wings. I walked out to see him sitting in a chair hands folded over the knee he had resting on the other.
"Um.....here's the first outfit." I said uncomfortably. He smiled and motioned for me to turn around so I did slowly blushing the whole way.
"I think I like that one! However, those shoes and your beanie ruin the look." He said then waved me back to try on another. Next I tried a baggy pair of white sweats and a black spaghetti strap top. I walked back out to show him. "Well, at least the hat works with this outfit. I don't see why you wear it though." He said resting his head in on of his hands.
"I.......always have hid my...disformity from others. It's the way I was raised to be." I said nervously.
"Hm? Your no common thug or street fighter so I expect you not to dress like one." He said waving me off again. I grumbled and went back. 'I thought it looked good.' I sighed. I went back and found a pair of short shorts that were beautiful! They had a white and purple sash that went through the belt loops and tied into a bow on each side that left the left over material dangling to my knees on the sides. Then I found a of the shoulder black shirt with short sleeves.
"I really want this one!" I said walking out of the dressing room.
"Very well then. Let's go and get you a new pair of shoes and if you insist a new hat." He said waving to a woman holding a weird scanner. She quickly scanned the tags of the clothes I was wearing then ripped them off and threw them away. Hisoka got up and brought out a phone punching in some things near the desk. "Come my Lady, we still have a very long day ahead of us." He said leading me out of the store.
"What about my dress?" I asked looking back.
"Don't bother, they'll throw it away for you." He said. Soon we went to a shoe shop where I got a pair a knee high boots with a very low heel. It fit the outfit nicely and it felt nice having a new pair of shoes! Then we went off to another store and looked at the hats. I looked at myself in the mirror and sighed. It was true, the hat didn't go well with the outfit but what else was I supposed to do? I had to train more and become more confident in my skills, not my abilities. Sure, I have a big advantage using them but me myself, wouldn't stand a chance. I ended up getting a flat billed one but I refused to throw away the old one, pocketing it in my pocket.
"What? It's the last thing I have left of my father. If at all possible I'll be buried with this hat." I said under the weight of his glance. He didn't say anything leading me to a restaurant. 'Man, I'm going to be awful at getting interrogated.' I mused. My sour mood was lifted the second I could smell something cooking. "Your being so.....nice." I sniffed as we were led by a woman to our seats.
"It's just lunch." He said looking down at his menu.
"It's more then lunch! It's food! You people always forget how IMPORTANT THAT IS!" I gasped.
"Hi, you two ready to order?" A man asked smiling down at us with a pen and note pad. It was like a Masiah had come cause the world was at peace and I felt like I was in heaven.
"Yeah, I'll have the steak medium rare with everything that goes with and some tea." Hisoka said to the guy.
"Alright and what about you, Ma'am?" He said looking at me.
"I'll have was he is having, but with a Heaven cherry soda." I nearly drooled.
"Alright, I'll get this over to the kitchen." He said and walked off. I kept a watch on the guy but turned my face towards Hisoka. I heard the sound of Hisoka laughing, I would of shot him a dirty look but I was way too happy right now. Once our food was brought to us I attacked my plate like a maniac. I mean, I didn't eat so fast that I choked or anything though I got done before Hisoka. Good thing too, I was to full to move at the moment. He paid for the bill and we went back outside. We got onto a train using out hunter cards getting a first class car. I didn't know what I liked more, the fact there was only four people me and Hisoka included. Or the fact that there was drinks and snacks for us. Oh, the view was terrific as well.
"So....." I said after awhile of silence on the train.
"Hm?" Hisoka asked flicking his gaze from outside to me.
"I uhhh...I don't know. I just didn't want it to be so quiet anymore." I said picking at the skin around my nails.
"Don't you have a device to solve that for you?" He asked.
"It died remember. I also left it's charger in a wall before heading off to take the exams." I said heaving a regretful sigh. "Anyways so.....uuhh? OH! Nen! You asked me if I knew what it was. I said I didn't so could you fill me in?" I asked.
"You mean teach you? Well, I typically don't do these sorts of things but since it is you we're talking about....I guess I could make a exception." He said.
"Yay! So just start off with the basics of what exactly it is." I said crossing my feet and pulling them towards me.
"Nen is a skill that allows a living being to control their Aura. Aura from all parts of the body has a tendency to flow together, producing a mass of energy. If one is unaware of their nen then it will result in it slowly trickling from ones body. Points on the body that create this is called Aura Nodes. Controlling these nodes are the first step to becoming a Nen user."
"How do you open these nodes?" I asked.
"Well there are two ways of this. The first is through meditation and can take awhile. The other is called Baptism or Initiation, but it's frowned down on for the dangers it puts the inexperienced in. After you have this ability the next things to learn would be Ten, Zetsu, Ren and Hatsu. Ten is the process of keeping nodes open, but also keeping your aura flow around your body. Zetsu stops the flow of aura from their bodies by closing all their aura nodes. Ren is a build on to Ten, it focuses on building more aura around themselves without losing it. Hatsu is one's personal expression of nen that creates a special or unique paranormal ability that one will develop over a amount of time."
"Woah.......that sound so cool! Why isn't there more people who know about this?" I asked.
"Because it's usually Hunters, assassin's that learn about this. It's not common for a average civilian to know about or use Nen. However if there is a Nen related crime it is handled by the Nen police. Otherwise for the regulars it doesn't have a important use."
"Ohhhh....okay then. Well.....how should I meditate?" I asked.
"There isn't a wrong or right way" He said looking out the window again. I sighed slipping down to the floor so that I could sit the way I wanted to more comfortably. I relaxed and closed my eyes clearing my mind. At first I felt nothing but eventually I became more aware of myself. Though it wasn't a big deal in actually I was awed by the sharpening of my senses. All too soon the train stopped and Hisoka stood up.
"So....where did you bring me?" I asked following him off the train. I stepped out side and looked around eyes instantly being drawn to the tallest tower I have ever seen.
