We are plagued in Bristol with lots of 20 zones, where we have to drive at 20 mph and this is so hard to do. I try hard to do this, but find other drivers up my back, trying to force me to go faster. But the rules are there for all of us so I ignore their stupidity and carry on regardless. Apparently, speed vans are going to be around the City making sure we do keep to the speed limit and lots of tickets will be issued...So if you live in Bristol, BEWARE you won't get away with it!
Hence this (VERY) stupid poem!
The Dreaded Twenty Zone
Please tell me someone, why am I alone
Going twenty in the twenty zone?
The rules apply to ALL of us,
The cars, the lorries and the bus.
In large letters on the ground
Twenty in a large ring is found.
But do you listen, No indeed,
Thirty is your usual speed.
And then RED fluorescent letters show
TWENTY, TWENTY please go slow.
But still you hurry, going thirty
And I can see you're playing dirty!
The bus we cannot blame, indeed,
Twenty is it's usual speed,
It does not go beyond that EVER
And in fact the word is N E V E R.
Even when we rush to work,
Or go to town. The speed is always twenty,
twenty, should the bus be full or empty.
Yes, twenty (diabolically slow),
but that's the speed the bus will go.
But me, I like to keep the rule.
I was taught this long ago, at school.
So when you get a speeding ticket
I won't have one,
'Cos I play cricket!
(I know this is rubbish, but I felt like posting it so I did!)
