Sweet Memory

The sky was a beautiful blue. Aubrey held her 2 year old daughter close to her as she walked up the pathway to Chris's house. The snow was like a blanket covering what once was beautiful green grass. A small snowflake fell on Megan's nose making her sneeze. Aubrey let out a small laugh as she walked onto the porch. Chris opened the door and a warm smile grew across his features. He walked over and Aubrey gave Megan to him. Scott walked out onto the porch and made a goofy face at Megan making her laugh. Her laugh made all three of them smile widely. Megan rested her small head on Chris's shoulder as the three of them entered the house. The lovely Christmas tree was decorated with colors of blue, green, red, and white with a yellow star on top that sparkled in the light. Presents were laid out around the bottom of the tree. Megan's blue eyes sparkled in the light. So did Aubrey's red dress. Her long brown hair was neatly curled and laying on her shoulder. Her dress came down to her knees. Chris rested Megan on his hip as he walked over to the couch and set her down on the floor. She started crawling towards the presents.
"No" Aubrey said quickly picking up Megan and putting her in Chris's lap. Megan stretched her little arms toward the presents. Scott reached over and picked up a small present. He smiled and gave it to Megan. Megan shook the box making the noise of something inside. Chris took the present and opened it for her. There was a little necklace inside. The necklace was a blue diamond. Aubrey smiled widely at Megan's cute little face.
"Hey Aubrey you should play us a song" Scott said. Aubrey blushed. She hasn't played the violin in a while. Scott pointed to a beautiful violin sitting on the table. Aubrey picked up the violin and held it in the correct way. She stared thinking of a song then started playing. The First Noel. The music was soft and sweet. Chris gave Megan to Scott and walked over to the piano joining in the song with Aubrey. Megan leaned into Scott as if she were ready to fall asleep. Scott had to admit the song was like a lullaby. After they finished playing the song Aubrey couldn't help but smile at Chris. She was planing to ask him to take care of Megan. Scott started clapping. Soon Megan joined in with the applause. Aubrey smiled at her daughter and put down the violin. Chris couldn't help but scoop Megan into his arms and kiss her little pale cheeks. Megan's laugh echoed through the house making them all smile. Megan is what brought them together. As a family. Soon Lisa arrived and held Megan for a long while. Shana and Carly kept making Megan laugh. They opened many presents. Lisa had gotten Megan a teddy bear. The black button eyes stared back at Megan as she hugged the stuffed bear. She decided to name the bear Teddy. Soon Megan was back on Chris's lap and chewing on a ginger bread man. Chris tickled her tummy lightly making her giggle. That laugh brought a warm feeling to Chris's heart. That little girl could brighten up a room by smiling. Chris pushed a piece of Megan's hair behind her ear before kissing her little cheek.
Megan sat on Chris's lap as he played the piano. Silent Night. Aubrey hummed softly to the song. Lisa had to admit that her and Chris look adorable together as if they were meant for each other. But Chris never knew she'd be gone in a year. Right after Megan's third birthday. Megan looked up at her father staring into his bright blue orbs. They looked so much alike. Aubrey smiled warmly and sat down beside Chris. Scott took a picture of the two of them. The sweet music was interrupted by Megan tapping the keys lightly with her small fingers. The group laughed as Megan continued to play. Well she had Chris's love for the piano in her blood. Scott quickly started taking a video. She tapped the same key over and over again. After playing the piano the family decided to sit down and watch Home Alone. Megan was softly laying on her uncle almost falling asleep. Scott had to admit it was cute. Soon Megan was fast asleep on her Uncle Scott. Aubrey took a sip of the hot chocolate and smiled widely.
That night Chris bounced Megan softly as he sung a disney song. It doesn't take to long to get her to sleep. Chris then laid Megan down in the small crib his mother had bought for Megan. Aubrey had just gotten out of the shower and was drying her hair with a blue towel. She had a comfy white robe wrapped around her. "What happened?" Chris asked almost in tears, "what happened to us?"
"I didn't want Meg to be stalked by cameras" Aubrey said looking at Megan who was sleeping soundly.
"I want Megan to have someone and not the guy you paid for a cover" Chris whispered not wanting to wake Megan.
"Chris, I feel like you've never heard of a secret relationship" Aubrey said smiling, "I was looking out for Megan in that whole thing."
"So that's what we'll do? A secret relationship?" Chris asked interested.
"If that's what you want" Aubrey said walking slowly over to Chris.
"That's exactly what I want" Chris said as he pulled Aubrey in for a hug. She rested her head on his chest listening to his heartbeat. Chris looked down at her and gave her a small kiss on the lips. Then their little moment was interrupted by Megan crying. Chris let out a chuckle.
"You do it. I'm tired" Aubrey said slapping his chest. Chris nodded and walked over to the crib. He took Megan out and rocked her gently. She stared up at him. Her blue eyes sparkled in the small amount of light in the room. Chris could feel tears forming in his eyes. He will never lose his baby girl. Ever. But he didn't know he'd lose the one he loved and his daughter would be unable to find for 10 years. He held her close as if nothing could separate them. He walked over to the window and watched as snow fell outside. East pushed the door open with his head and walked in as if he owned the place. Aubrey smiled and patted East on the head. Megan was soon asleep in Chris's arms. He didn't want to put her down.
"Don't move" Aubrey said holding up a camera. Chris stayed there not looking at the camera. He stared out the window. Aubrey gasped and smiled widely at the picture she just took. She showed Chris the picture and he couldn't help but smile. Megan laid still in his arms breathing softly. Chris rubbed his thumb across her pale cheek.
"She has your chubby cheeks" Chris said making Aubrey smile and punch his arm softly.
"Whatever. She has your dirty blonde hair, your eyes, color of your skin. You both are pale" Aubrey said going into the bathroom to change into some pjs. Chris shook his head with a smile and looked down at Megan. He laid her back into her crib before rubbing her cheek again. This time Megan stirred a little bit. She smiled in her sleep as Chris gave her Teddy. She squeezed the bear tightly. Aubrey walked out of the bathroom wearing a long sleeved white shirt and plaid sweatpants. Her brown hair was in a bun. She wrapped her arms around Chris's neck and hugged him. Chris kissed her head gently.
"Such a gentleman" Aubrey said smiling up at him.
"You said that the night I first danced with you" Chris said smiling.
"May I have this dance?" Aubrey said holding out her hand.
"You may" Chris said taking her hand softly and they guided across the carpet careful so they didn't wake Megan. Aubrey's green eyes sparkled in the dim light as did Chris's ocean blue eyes. They were lost in each other's eyes. Chris bent down and kissed her softly making her smile. Chris wrapped his arms around her small body.
"I wonder if Megan will be just as short as you" Chris whispered making her punch his shoulder. Not softly this time. Chris rubbed his shoulder sarcastically, "I love you too."
