Best Birthday Ever

I wake up with the sun shining right in my eyes. I groaned and pulled my blanket over my head. I lifted the blanket just enough for me to see my clock. It was 10:30. Once I realized what today was, I gasped and roll over to look at my amazing boyfriend. My happiness was replaced by sadness when I remembered that he was in L.A. for the weekend. We've been dating for 4 years, almost five, but we've been friends for 10 years. He's gone a lot because of his acting career. I'll admit, it frustrates me that he's gone all the time, but I'm really proud of Robbie. He's come really far. I sighed and decided it was a good time to get up even if he wasn't home. I walked to the kitchen of our shared home and made myself pancakes, my favorite breakfast food. I was starting to get hot, so I tied my (Y/H/C) hair in a ponytail. I was wearing a blue tank-top and fluffy pajama pants. Someone knocked on the door, so I put my plate in the sink and walked to answer it. When I opened the door, I saw my mom, older brother (A/N-if you don't have a brother you have one now), and best friend. Each of them was holding a gift.

"Oh, my gosh! Guys!", I yelled.

They all yelled happy birthday and we had a group hug.

"My little baby is 20.", my mom cooed. "I wish your father was here."

"Me too, mom.", I responded sadly.

My dad died when I was 15 ad my brother was 19.

"Guys, let's not be sad. Today is a happy day!", (Y/B/N) said.

"Yeah! It's (Y/F/N)'s birthday! Come on, (Y/F/N). We have presents.", (Y/B/F/N) said in a sing-song voice

I squealed and we all walked to the kitchen.

"Hey. Where's Robbie?", (Y/B/F/N) asked.

"He's filming in L.A.", I responded.

(Y/B/N) growled. He's never liked Robbie.

"He's gone on your BIRTHDAY!? What kind of a boyfriend is he!? I knew that guy was bad news. I told you it was a dumb idea to fall for an actor. He's probably with some rich, stuck-up actress right now, instead of celebrating with you. I bet-"

By now, I was close to tears. Robbie had asked me out quite a few times before I finally said yes. I knew it was risky to date an actor. They move around a lot, he'd be with a lot of other pretty girls, and there would be times that I wouldn't see him for weeks at a time. I knew all of this, which is why it took so long for me to agree to go out with him. Since then, I've gotten pretty sensitive. I get scared really easily. (Y/B/F/N) must have seen the fear in your eyes, because she gave my brother a death glare that shut him up immediately.

"I'm sure that's not true. I'm sure he's thinking about you right now, wishing he were here with you.", my mom said to me.

"You're probably right mom."

As if he read my mind from the other side of the country, Robbie called me. I smiled and showed them my cell phone, which showed his name. My mom and (Y/B/F/N) gave me a thumbs-up, but (Y/B/N) just groaned. I answered the phone.

PHONE CONVERSATION

Y(you)-Hey, Robbie.

R(Robbie)-Hey, babe. Just calling to wish you a very happy 20th birthday.

Y-Aww! Thanks. You're the sweetest.

R-If I were the sweetest, I would be there with you, instead of being stuck in L.A. I'm really sorry I can't be with you, (Y/F/N).

Y-Robbie, it's OK. I completely understand. We can celebrate when you come back.

R-But I might not be coming back when I expected.
