Xerxes' POV
"But why can't you go to my party?" Helena whined. "You couldn't go last year either!" she crossed her arms.
Aleister and I exchanged glances. "Helena as much as we want to go, we couldn't. We already told you that we don't like staying with too much people and I'm sure there are a lot of high-class people going to your party." I explained.
She sighed. "Is that why you prepared this picnic for me? Because you won't be able to go?" we both nodded.
Time passed by quickly. It's been more than a year ever since we met Helena. She's going to turn twenty one tomorrow. She wanted to invite us but we just can't. We need to take precautions.
"Fine, I won't force you. Christopher is going anyway." she mumbled.
"Who is Christopher?" Aleister asked.
"My best friend," she answered. "Whenever I'm not with you two, he's the one I hang-out with."
"He's a guy?" I asked dumbly.
"Of course he is. Have you ever encountered a woman named Christopher? And I believe you do know what the pronoun 'he' is used for, right?" Aleister raised an eyebrow while Helena giggled at his remark.
I rolled my eyes at him. I was just trying to be funny... Well actually I was just dumb.
"Oh well... Thanks for today anyways. I won't meet you tomorrow since I'll be at the party." she stood up.
"Helena, I'm really sorry." I frowned.
"It's just a birthday party," she smiled. "Bye." she waved then left.
"She's upset," I sighed.
"She seems fine," Aleister said.
"She's just trying to look like it. She's disappointed, I know it. Even without using telepathy I can tell." I walked ahead of him.
"You know, you're not good at our lessons but you're good at reading people. All this time it's always you who can tell how Helena feels." Aleister said.
I chuckled. "Well that's my advantage then. I'm so dumb when it comes to lessons but I'm good at stuff like those."
"Don't even think about it as an advantage" he shook his head.
Aleister and I both like Helena. We never told each other about it vocally but it's pretty obvious. I know it's a competition right now since both of us are trying to make a move on Helena.
I wanted to tell her numerous times but I didn't want to rush things. Right now, everything's just as it should be and I hope Aleister thinks the same.
The following day, Aleister spent the whole day studying and taking more lessons while I sneaked out again.
I just stayed at the usual clearing where we usually meet up with Helena.
I lay down on the grass while I thought over plenty of things. I hate being alone because it makes me think of usual things that I don't want to pay attention to.
Just like right now... I'm thinking of why am I not as smart as my brother. Sometimes I wonder why I'm so dumb. My parents are both intelligent, same with my brother so what the hell happened? If I ever get children I hope they don't turn out to be as dumb as me.
"Argh! Why am I being so dramatic?! This is lame!" I yelled out as I threw rock at the lake.
I suddenly heard the rustling of leaves nearby so I got up to look.
"Helena?" my eyes widened in surprise when I saw Helena. She's wearing a gown but her hair was disheveled and there was make-up running down her face. I took a closer look and I realized that she was crying.
