Slim body. Slim face. Slim hands. Slim neck. Slim everything. That's the standards.
Bullying
It is well known that South Korea is famous for their skin care and beauty stores. If you don't do skin care, you will definitely be frowned up and seen as "unclean". South Korea is also very well known for all their excellent plastic surgeons. Over 50% of the Korean population has undergone a plastic surgery before they turned 25 years of age.
This is because bullying is a huge problem in Korean schools. The victims are therefore pressured to feel the need for a plastic surgery to "fit in". This is has been going on for generations and therefore their parents are actually even supportive of getting plastic surgeries, perhabs because they themselves have had one once in their lives.
Bright future?
While Koreans are becoming more broad about beauty standards, it still very common to actually be bullied or left out for not meeting the standards. Bullying rates in Korea are very high either because you don't look like them or because you're not from the same social class.
South Korea is becoming more and more internationalized even if they till this day are very conservative and huge nationalists. Thanks to all the international interest and tourists, the bigger cities are becoming more open-minded when it comes to beauty standards because they're now used to seeing all different kinds of people and are therefore becoming less judgmental.
Meanwhile in the samller villages or towns with less tourists or foreigners the standards are yet to be broken.
