Hanto sat at her station unsure of what to do, she never had to cook or eat as a demon, and she didn't feel hungry now. She looked over to the others and saw them doing a number of different things, from putting the whole thing over the fire to slicing it to pieces and placing it on a fire. "But what should I do?" She looked down at her dead meat and thought back to the books she read about the humans. She remembers trying a few things that she had head in a book once but when she make Kazu try it he always make a look of disgust, but she could never really tell weather her was just being mean or if the food was really gross.
A familiar voice broke her away from her thoughts, it was Killua. "Wow you don't even know how to cook?" Killua teased as he placed his completed dish on a plate and began to walk up to Menchi. "I knew you were hopeless but I didn't think you we're that hopeless." Killua laughed his whole way up and presented his food to the examaners. She simply brushed off his childish behavior, not that she was any more mature, and stuck her young out at him.
killua sneered and presented his dish. The large one enjoyed the food just as he had with all of the others. But when Menchi tried it she make a look of disgust before she even tasted it failing him just as she had done to all of the other examees that approached her.
"Hmmm..." Hantu looked around at the supplies she had and decided to go with the simplest thing she could think of, meat on a stick. "Um... what we're they called, shesbobs?" She questioned herself as she began to thinly slice the meat and putting veggies on it as well. She put them on in a neat pattern then placed it over an open flame until it was all a light golden color.
"Wow that looks good!" Gon shouted as he walked down from the examaners, he had failed as well.
"Its just meat and plants on a stick its nothing special." Hantu then poured a sause over the top she had made herself, if only she knew that was a big mistake, when ever she ate anything she loved tons of salt.
She approached Menchi who looked some what happy to see something that was more than a whole roasted pig. The larger man took it all in one bite, and help up a sigh with a blue O on it, and continued to eat the rest.
"Well this looks promising..." She picked it up and examined the meat, it isn't under cooked, then she squished a piece of the meat between her fingers and some juice came out, and it's not dry. She took a bite of the meat with a piece of ongion along with it.
"Sooooo." Hantu look excited this was her first time cooking for a human, she had tried things for herself but it was all ancient recipes.
She spit it out almost imeadetly. "Too much salt! Fail!" She held up a sigh with a red X on it. Hantu pouted a bit and walked away mumbling to herself about how it tatsed fine.
In the end everyone ended up failing the second exam and a blimp with the hunters symbol on the side lowered itself down until an elderly man jumped out and landed on his feet, unharmed.
"Wow!" Hantu said, she thought to herself about how strong humans really are, she couldn't wait to get home and talk all about her discoveries, then come back to make more. The man, who introduced himself and called himself Netero, walked up to Menchi and said, "Was it really necessary to fail everyone?" He raised his brow.
"I'm sorry, I know I have made a mistake." She bowed before him. "I put my pride as a gourmet hunter before my responsibilitys as an examiner. I will resigh as an examiner please retest them and choose someone else better fitted for the job as examiner."
"No, no there is no one else I would have, raise you head, make another test and participate in it yourself." He smiled down at her.
She stood up and nodded, "But can we have a lift?" He nodded.
Soon everyone arrived at a canyon where Menchi announced that the test will be boiling an egg. Then she gestured down to a canyon that had spider threads and large egg sacs. She leaps off the side as sh dives down grabbing an egg letting the wind currents carry her back up again. "Anyone who refuses will fail the exam." She then walks off to the side and let's the others try.
They all sprint towards the edge and jump off grabbing on to the thread, and waited. "Waiting is boring!" Hantu jumped down as everyone gasped.
Gon had a look of fear on his face, he knew there wasn't an updraft yet. "No you jumped too soon!!!"
She flew down and grabbed one of the eggs, looking up towards the rest of them she continued to fall until what seemed like smoke surrounded her body focusing on her back, a pair of smoky wings appeared and then with in a second the smoke broke away revealing her wings, they belonged to her true form she had recently found out she could summon parts of her true form but was to weak in this world to summon her entire true form. With that she flew up and landed safely on the ground above. As her toes landed softly the wings flaked away and she retired to normal.
Everyone else retrieved their eggs as Nerero approached her, he looked at her suspiciously, smiled and looked away. On the other hand she was tackled by Gon who was nearly in tears. "Don't scare me like that!" He sobbed squeezing her with all of his strength, and Killua looked irritated.
"What was that all about, those wings that you just made out of thin air?!?" Killua stomped up to her and crossed his arms in question. She just scrached the back of her head nervously.
Sorry to do this to y'all but I'm gonna stop this chapter here cuz it was getting kind of long, so will she reveal her true identity or will she find a way out, find out next update~
