Blood seeped through your sleeve, and you sucked in a harsh breath through your teeth. You weren't sure who- or rather what attacked you. Or even where the hell you were. One moment you were walking back from your job, and the next the world was a dizzying mix of black and red. Then, you weren't here.
Thankfully you had an old pocket knife, one you always kept on you just in case. After that nonsense with those loan sharks stalking around Shibuya, you didn't want to take any chances.
Whatever... those were though, they didn't take much damage from your self-defense attempts. Luckily you managed to run away, but you were getting tired. To your relief though, you came across a room while trying to hide.
You had braced yourself before entering, eyeing each corner as you gripped your knife tightly. It was empty... and had a place for you to lay back for a second or two. You were exhausted.
And that led you to now, gingerly tugging your sleeve up to see the wound from that monster. There was a burning sensation from the cut, and you winced. It felt much different from any other injury you've had before... What do you even do for this...?
There was a doctor you knew in Yongen-Jaya, and she wasn't really the type to ask questions which is good... But would you even be able to get out of here to find her? You sighed.
"I'll think about it later..." You mumbled, lying on the couch. Right now you were exhausted, and thinking on low sleep wouldn't be much help anyway.
The couch was surprisingly comfy (or maybe you were just that tired) that it didn't take long for your eyelids to feel heavy. You closed them...
*rattle, rattle*
You weren't sure how long you had dozed, but a sound awoke you from your sleep. Your head snapped to the door, seeing the doorknob turn. Shit.
Quickly you took your knife off the side table, curling your fingers into a tight fist around it and readying yourself for a fight.
You expected another one of those monsters, but instead you saw... a girl?
She was equally surprised to see you, but as her red eyes fell to your weapon, her gaze hardened and she went into a similar stance.
"Who are you?" She asked sternly.
Confused, you took a second to answer. She was human like you, that was a relief... but why was she here, and dressed so strangely? She even had a mask on. "Who are you?"
Suddenly she leapt forward over the table, pulling the hand with your knife behind your back. She peered at your face.
"Shadows can't get in here... Or did the cognition change to make that possible...?" She muttered to herself.
"What're you talking about...?!" You hissed, she was tightly holding your injured arm. "Shadow? Is that what those things are...?"
She felt a warmth on her hand, looking doing to see your blood spread across her palm. Instantly, she let go. "What- you're human?"
It was a relief to be let go, and you sighed and blew on your burning arm. "Yes...! What else would I be?"
The girl looked apologetic, from what you could see with her mask. "I-I'm sorry. You're hurt?"
She pulled away, his touch gentle now as she inspected your arm. You were a little taken aback by the change in demeanour, but you supposed she was on edge because of this place. You were too...
"Um..." You spoke up, before she put her hand over the injury. A green, sparkly light came from her palm, and somehow your wound was gone.
After she let go, you pulled back to look at it more closely. "How did you do that...?"
