Kiri had beyond ignored her brother and went back to the hospital in an increased rate. Rather than two days a week she was visiting up to three or four days, much to the doctor’s annoyance. Perhaps it was her own form of rebellion against her brother that kept her visiting as often as she could but whatever it was Kiyoshi wasn’t complaining.
As the days went on Kiyoshi began to look forward to seeing the girl every day, what she would wear and more or less what she would bring. For some reason Kiri got it in her head that every time she visited Kiyoshi that she had to bring him some gift or another. It ranged from popsicles she snuck in for the two of them all the way to a brand new basketball that he would toss around with her in the gym when they had a free moment during physical therapy.
The girl was certainly strange but Kiyoshi couldn’t deny that she had turned his stay here right around. Though the doctors apparently were beginning to get pissed off at her.
“Girl, why are you here again? Don’t you have a life outside this place?” Moegi asks.
The girl grins at the woman, “C’mon, you know you’d miss me too much. Besides, this place needs more color. Did you get my suggestions on how to fix that?”
“Yes, yes I did. Yours was the one on rainbow colored paper yes?” The girl nods, “Yeah, we got them.” Moegi didn’t have the mean spirit to tell the girl they’d trashed the ideas as soon as she was out of the room.
Kiri had a thing for color like no one moegi had ever met. For one thing, today she was dressed in her most colorful outfit yet. Rainbow from head to toe, flouncy shirt and skirt, and worse of all glitter. The girl pats the counter, leaving a small handprint of glitter before she skips off to go and find Kiyoshi trailing glitter as she went.
It was surprising though, when the girl got to his room the brunette was up on his feet and packing clothing into bags on his bed. She stands there for a moment watching him whistle while he packs his clothes away, back to her. What was happening here? After a bit of hesitation she knocks on the door frame and pastes on a smile.
“Knock, knock Yoshi-Yoshi! What’s going on?” She comes into his room and takes a flying leap onto the bed not minding the way her skirt was flashing the other inhabitant in the room.
Kiyoshi blushes and looks away, “Ah well I’m getting ready to go home.”
“Wait, you mean you’re getting out to go play!” Kiri yells at him, her sadness momentarily forgotten.
Kiyoshi gives her a smile, “That’s right. They’ve cleared me to finish out the season this year.”
“I’m so excited! I can’t wait to watch you play!”
“Oh? Do you want to come to my first practice with me then?”
Kiri’s face lights up even more, the thought of being able to see him play that soon was something that she had to see, even if she had to blow off school to do it. Grabbing his hand she nods her head, so happy.
“Alright, I’ll meet you here tomorrow to go and take you to Seirin.”
“I’m so excited! I don’t think I’ll even be able to sleep!” She’s jumping up and down, eyes sparkling, “We should celebrate, let’s go and get food!”
“Okay, sure.”
Kiri grabs his hand and starts off running. Luckily Kiyoshi is taller than her and so he can keep stride with her pretty easily. It’s not long before she gets to an ice cream stand. She goes up with a bright look and immediately orders two chocolate cones. Sure, Kiri had no idea of what Kiyoshi actually liked but no one could hate chocolate right?
She gives him one of the cones, a dopey expression on her face. She really liked Kiyoshi. He was a nice guy and it was obvious that he was loyal too. Yeah, she probably had a crush on him if she had to pin down how she felt.
“Ah, Kiri are you alright?”
She blinks and looks up at him, “Yeah, no I’m fine. Are you?”
“Yeah, I’m excited. Though are you sure you’re alright?”
“Well… there is one thing…”
“Yeah?”
“I like you.” She says plainly.
Kiyoshi turns to look at her, a kind smile on his face, “I like you too.”
“Yay! That means you’re my boyfriend now right?”
He chokes on his ice cream suddenly, “H-huh?” He looked so confused, what had he said that had caused the girl to respond with that? Sure she was really pretty and loyal and kind and… why was he suddenly so shocked by this again?
She pouts as she looks at him, “Be my boyfriend. I like you and you like me, so we should date.”
For a moment he thinks about it, would it really be so bad to try? She certainly was on his side to be sure. Not to mention she did have a certain way about her that Kiyoshi found enticing. Perhaps he should, “Yeah, I’ll be your boyfriend.” Leaning over he kisses her.
The smile on her face when they break the kiss. Leaning over she locks lips with him again, her arms looping around him and bring him in close, "I like you Yoshi-Yoshi."
He grins back, "I know."
Screw Makoto-nii, Kiri would deal with the consequences later.
