            oliver laid down beside julian  ,  frowning as he reached out to grab his hand.  "you sure  ..  ?"

     `` im just sleepy , oli . . . we walked a lot yesterday . `` 

      `` you're unbelievable . `` he shoves the other away playfully .

            oliver extended his arms in an exaggerated act of a zombie  ,  snapping his jaws at julian.  "braaiins  ..  "  he growled out while moving forward 

      `` that wouldn't be nice . `` he pouts slightly . not that he wouod be infected if the other ever got to that point and he happen to bite him . 

      `` sounds boring . `` he says immediately as he looked at the shown cover . he paused when he processed what he said . `` sorry , that was mean . ``

            "it's an encyclopedia about fish."  he flipped over to the cover to let julian see.  "got it from the library."  it wasn't the first time he was reading it  ,  but he liked revisiting it from time to time.  

    julian shuts the door before climbing onto the bed next to oliver , laying his head against his shoulder . `` what are you reading ? ``

            the five year old would nod and shyly offer her hands . ` ` it ' s okay ! maybe we can find you one too . . ` `

            "this is yours?"  he looked between the other and the stuffed animal.  "sorry  ..  didn't know it belonged to someone."

"I want it."  he pulled the book closely to his chest  ,  silently worried it was going to be taken away from him.  "  ..  thank you.  or whatever."

    `` no . I don't think so anyways . `` he leans back on his heels , watching oliver with the book . `` a little birdie told me you've been eye balling this book for awhile . I thought I'd get it for you . . . I mean unless you don't want it . ``

            oliver stared for a moment before scooting out of his hiding place.  he sat closer to rowan now  ,  gently taking a hold of the book.  his fingers ran over the cover  ,  taking in all of it in silent interest.  "is today a holiday?"

            his eyes squinted open into a glare.  "what?!  what is   /  so  /   important that I have to wake up?"

       `` wake . `` he tries again , using another finger to poke oliver again .

            oliver grabbed a hold of the finger  ,  pushing it away as he let out a guttural sound.  "no.  sleep."

            "jude is the taller one!  they're your husband!  or  ..  would have been?  you were gonna be!"  it was a lot easier to remember things about people when they were in front of him.
            
            "and the other one is julian!  he's our brother.  we have another one too  —  nathaniel.  he should be around here somewhere  ..  "

    ``  brothers  ? ``  he said almost confused by the concept  . is that why he seemed so familiar then ?  `` what about those two ? `` rowan knew jude as constant in his life , but when it came to name and actual memories it was blurry . he just knew it was the man who kept him chain and muzzle most days . but there was another human that had came with oliver .   rowan tilted his head slightly .

            "I'm oliver!"  he happily replied  ,  unoffended that he had been forgotten.  "we're um  ..  "  he squinted as he himself tried to remember.  "ah  —  we're brothers!"
