Kai's pov next chapter. Here's a little teaser:
This was a cover. Smart girl.
I decided to play along.
I let my hand slide to her waist, gripped her tight, and in one fluid move, I spun us so her back was pressed against the wall and I towered over her. Her breath caught, her pulse erratic beneath my fingers. Her wide eyes locked onto mine.
Three seconds. That’s all it took to memorize her. The faint scar along her jaw. The heart-shaped birthmark beneath her right eye. And her eyes—
God, her eyes.
She parted her lips to speak, but I didn’t let her. I kissed her. Hard. Fast.
Her fingers gripped my jaw, grounding herself as mine slid to her waist, yanking her close. Footsteps echoed closer, coming fast. But I didn’t care. I wasn’t the only one feeling it. The charge between us
A breath caught in her throat. Then a soft, involuntary moan. I chased it.
Pushed my tongue into her mouth. She gasped against me the moment she felt the cool press of my piercing.
That sound— Fuck, I needed to hear it again.
I kissed her harder. She matched it. Reckless. Raw. Real. A collision of hunger and warning, of everything we weren’t supposed to be.
Every nerve screamed at me to stop. To pull away.
The people chasing her ran right past us. There was no reason to continue.
But her hands tangled in my hair, pulling me closer, and her breath mingled with mine in a way that blurred the lines between control and chaos. I couldn’t stop. I didn’t want to stop.
All of my senses were consumed by the spitfire pressed against me. Her heat, her hunger, the way her body moved against mine. I lost track of time, lost track of everything but the way she felt, the way she kissed.
Then she broke away.
The air between us was electric. Her lips were still parted, breath ragged, chest heaving.
Before I could speak, she spun on her heel and disappeared down the hallway.
