“Ugh I seriously hate being a vampire sometimes. Can’t even look in the mirror to do my makeup or make sure I look good.” Draculaura said with a sad sigh and she pouted a bit. “You sure my makeup looks good, Frankie?”

Frankie looked up from where she was fixing the sleeve of her jacket, immediately softening at the sight of Draculaura pouting. She stepped closer without hesitation, gently taking her friend’s face between her hands to inspect her makeup with exaggerated seriousness.

“Drac, are you kidding?” she said, brows lifting before a warm smile spread across her face. “Your eyeliner is literally perfect. Like… criminally sharp. And your lipstick hasn’t smudged once all night somehow, which honestly feels supernatural even for you.” Frankie laughed softly, thumbs brushing against her cheeks reassuringly.

“And for the record,” she added, tilting her head slightly, “you always look good. Mirror or no mirror.” Her grin turned playful then. “Honestly, if I couldn’t use mirrors, I’d probably leave the dorm looking like I got into a fight with a toaster.”

I basically did. I had a lab report due at midnight, maybe accidentally short-circuited half the dorm, and then decided three energy drinks was a reasonable life choice (…) I’m being held together by caffeine, eyeliner, and blind optimism right now.

[ Lucian passed through the biology lab, the faint scent of chemicals and glassware filling the air as students worked on their experiments. His gaze drifted across the bubbling mixtures before he slowly walked up beside a girl standing nearby. ] " How do you guys even handle this ? " [ he murmured, eyes scanning the setup with quiet curiosity. ] " It’s kind of impressive. "

Frankie blinked at him for half a second, clearly caught off guard by the compliment before a bright laugh slipped from her. “Wow. Okay, that was dangerously smooth.” Her smile lingered easily as she leaned back against the counter, fingers absentmindedly spinning a pen between them. “Most people come in here looking at the chemicals like they’re about to become a supervillain origin story. You’re, like, weirdly calm about it.”

Her eyes flickered toward the bubbling beaker before returning to him with open curiosity. “Practical results, huh?” she echoed lightly. “That sounds mysterious in a way that would either be really impressive or really concerning.” Frankie tilted her head slightly then, studying him for a moment with the same intrigue he’d given her. “And for the record, I absolutely flinch sometimes. I just try to do it with confidence so people think I meant to almost blow something up.”

[ Lucian let out a soft, dry chuckle, a sound that didn't quite reach his ears but played across his lips in a faint, lopsided tilt. He shifted his weight, sliding one hand into his pocket while the other lingered near the edge of her workstation, his fingers twitching as if weighing the glass equipment. ]

" Well— you caught me," [ he admitted, his voice dropping into a smoother, lower register. He tilted his head, a stray lock of dark hair falling over his brow as his gaze swept from the microscope back to her. There was no embarrassment in his expression, only a sharpened glimmer of intrigue. ]

" I’m definitely a tourist in this world. I usually deal with... practical results, not the theory behind them. " [ He paused, his pupils dilating slightly as he took in the 'controlled chaos' of her setup, then looked back at her with a look of genuine, quiet appraisal. ] " But seeing you handle all this without flinching ? It’s a lot more captivating than the bubbling chemicals. "

Frankie glanced up from the microscope almost instantly, brightening the second she realized someone was talking to her. “Oh, you kinda just learn to stop being scared of accidentally creating toxic gas after the first few weeks,” she said cheerfully, pushing a loose black-and-white streak of hair behind her ear. “Plus, biology’s actually really fun once you get past the whole ‘everything can explode or dissolve your skin’ part.”

She flashed him a grin before gesturing toward the lab setup beside her. “It’s mostly controlled chaos. Heavy emphasis on the chaos.” Then her expression softened into curiosity as she looked him over. “You don’t seem like a biology major. You have that ‘I wandered in here by accident and immediately regretted it’ look.”

Frankie (Fine) Stein — a 21-day-old college student majoring in Biological Sciences with a Biomedical focus; completely obsessed with understanding life, anatomy, and the strange science behind what makes people tick. Bursting with energy and curiosity, she’s a huge party animal with a dangerously flirtatious personality, yet somehow still manages to stay at the top of her classes through sheer determination and sleepless nights fueled by caffeine and chaos. Frankie absolutely adores college life — from loud dorm parties and late-night study sessions to horror movie marathons and impulsive midnight adventures — approaching every experience with bright-eyed excitement and an endlessly positive attitude. With her stitched-up fashion sense, electric charm, and heart bigger than her impulse control, she’s still figuring out what it truly means to grow into her own person, but she’s loving every second of being alive.
