            an incubus who was originally born completely human. 
            he was adopted by the wealthy d'amore family, who 
            allowed him to keep his birth surname as a way to tell 
            him that he's joining their family and not erasing where 
            he came from. for a majority of his childhood, emrys 
            believed he'd been genuinely welcomed into their family. 
            until he turned twenty-one. when he discovered the truth: 
            his adoptive parents had made a supernatural bargain for 
            greater wealth, influence, and power. the price wasn't 
            money. that would be too easy. instead it was their son. 
            they offered him to an ancient entity, which transformed 
            him from human into an incubus. the family gained 
            everything they wanted while emrys was left to live with 
            the knowledge that the people who claimed to love him 
            had willingly sacrificed him for their ambition.
