hello!

i am not a very big creator on here so this likely isn’t going to get much traction, but i just wanted to discuss the issue of colorism and how prevalent it is in this community. i myself am black, and a person of darker skin and i can say with certainty that finding out about natalie’s plot was very hurtful, intentional or not. i encourage anyone curious to check out this thread on the situation: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLLDpPYP/ , and i want to express my disappointment for the creators who proceeded to harass these authors for attempting to bring light to the situation and simply educate them. i am extremely disappointed in @disturbedia, who’s fanfictions i followed, and have since then unfollowed and i would like to thank @lesbology and @gauntss for speaking out about it. i only wish that i had known about the situation sooner, for i would have also come to their defense and attempted to shed some light on the issue. the both of them were respectful in their initial reactions to finding out about this plot and the harassment that followed them was unnecessary and unacceptable.

i also want to point out how important it is for the people who have been commenting on natalie’s posts saying that she did nothing wrong and that she didn’t need to apologize to realize that the apology was likely not for them in the first place. if you are not a black person or a person of color in general, you will never fully grasp the gravity and the nuance of colorism as an issue as a whole, and if you are a black person or person of color and still believe that there was no misdemeanor here, i urge you to educate yourself.
