            * midas barely reacted to the little trick. he figured if he were to act cool about it, cole wouldn't be encouraged to do something worse with his supernatural water. *   i am. but how have you been, cole?  i've been laughing to the bank lately.

bummer.  *  cole let out a small sigh,  feigning dramatic  disappointment.  he made a finger gun,  shooting a dart of black water at the lighter when the flame was produced,  *  still cursed?

            Aurinko perked up slightly as she noticed Skye trying to get her attention.” Yes, it was at a gala of sorts. I believe we were both looking for some fresh air.” She smiled.” I’m glad we met, at any rate.”

            "Yes, I'm sure that you'll see them eventually."  They eventually began eating after pleasantries were exchanged. Skye looked up from her food to stare at Aurinko. The young woman wanted to ask her a question, so she waited until she caught the redhead's attention. "So, how do you know dad?"  Skye glanced at Midas. He was like a father figure to her.
            "Didn't we first talk at a social gathering?" Midas said, trying to recall the fact.
            "Yeah, that high-brow party thing."  Tina added while eating some broccoli.  "A very fancy event."

            “Oh, I love fish.” The redhead smiled brightly.” I’m sorry they couldn’t make it tonight. Maybe I could meet them some other time.” Aurinko took a sip of her drink, seeming to just be happy to be there.

            He stared at her while he thought about the potential options. "We'll figure it out."  Softly came the words. "I have operatives who can help track him down."
            Midas took a sip of his whiskey.

            “I couldn’t ask that of you… I know I need to talk with him, it’s just tough…” She took another sip from her glass.” I don’t even know where to find him, honestly. If I could just find him, I think I could talk to him and fix things.”

            "Mm. I think it's understandable."  Midas swirled his whiskey around lightly, watching the amber liquid move. The man drank often, but perhaps his pride told him not to admit it so freely. Or maybe he just thought it was obvious that he drank and that there was little need to point it out.
              "I know... you need to talk with him.   / i / could talk with him."

            * this wasn't anything special to midas, so he stabbed his fork into a medium-sized chunk of his food. he proceeded to eat the piece quietly. *

here goes,  *  pointing the remote at the screen,  vince pressed the power button,  amazed that it blinked to life.  he grinned,  *  i’ll be damned.

            * he stared at vince, about to inquire about it some more but stopped as the conversation turned to the remote. *   try it.   * he nodded his head towards the biggest flatscreen tv in the room. *

* midas braced himself as soon as cole stood up, fearing the worst. a wave of relief washed over him, however, when the water began to drain. *    

cute,  *  cole snorted,  letting the water ease around midas,  giving him all the freedom in the space,  *  that’s / if / you get your hands on me.  i’d tread carefully—literally.  *  he stood up in the water,  fingers curling as he absorbed the blackness and drained the water slowly,  having the levels decrease so that the ground would be seen eventually,  his makeshift swimming pool disappearing,  *

            * the sound of the wall dispersing gave him a glimmer of hope. he opened his eyes just in time to see the movement of the water around him. that was his trace of hope being snatched away from him... his vision glanced to cole shortly after he'd spoke and the word 'relax' pushed his buttons. that was it. he felt like his emotions were composed of cables in his mind, and those cables were sparking and smoking while they got sent into overdrive. *     oh-hahahaha–  i'm going to turn you to gold when i  /get/ my hands on you...             

i don't think you need more. that stuff isn't any good for you, you know.
