* CHARACTER THREAD .ᐟ
* amnesia is a nasty thing, especially when you can't remember your own name or what you're doing in a strange circular room with robot arms hovering over you. he finds his crew mates died in their comas and is alone on the ship. now having to fill all the roles instead of just one.
intially he lays down and accepts he's going to die in space, especially after finding out just how far away from earth he really is. but he uses all materials to research, find out the density. how long it takes for an item to fall and most importantly he tries to remember who he is and why he knows so much scientifically.
* a former molecular biologist turned middle school teacher. grace is humanity's less than willing emissary sent into deep space to save earth from a sun- dimming microbe. on the ship was a captain, an engineer and a scientist. unfortunately in a horrible explosive accident all science specialists were killed leaving grace as the only choice. but he wasn't given a choice.
never had he been trained for space, he hadn't ever been. never had it been a thought. yet stratt sat him down and framed it like a question. two hours to decide if he'd save humanity or not. two hours to decide on a suicide mission. the only reason he'd been around was to figure out how to produce mass amounts of astrophage and his work was done.
unfortunately he gave his answer, no. but no was not taken as an answer and he would be chased down and injected with a substance that put him into a deep sleep. a four year long medically induced coma where he wakes up on the hail mary.

⁽ a bullet. he'd given him a bullet. okay...ᐣ his fingers closed around it and he felt how much weight it carried. a lot.ᐣ a little.ᐣ the heavier it was the more impact. although he wasn't entirely sure what he was asking. tossing the round up and catching it in his opposite hand he brought it closer and adjusted his glasses. ⁾
it truly depends on what sort of ' entity ' you're after. i study the structure, function and interactions of the essential macromolecules that make up a living cell. nucleic acids. and proteins. dna. rna. i pick things apart at the microscopic level. but even then i need something a little less cryptic if you want an answer that might actually help.

@saviorofthestars this was unlike him. he took the other’s palm anyway and left a bullet resting against it with a faint clink of brass. joke or not, he was interested in knowing what this guy was capable of. leon leaned back slightly, gaze lowering toward the round before lifting again. the safehouse carried the stale scent of gun oil, damp concrete, and burnt coffee left sitting too long. ⠀⠀⠀ “what do you think this could do with the material you study in science?” ⠀⠀⠀ his tone remained rough, lingering with skepticism. ⠀⠀ “think this is enough to /harm/ a possible entity or something?”
my hands.ᐣ .. ⁽ at the request he extended his arms towards him and displayed his palms. ⁾ maybe that one's a myth.

height wise i saw anywhere from three foot to maaaaybe eight or nine.ᐣ a very diverse group. they had several limbs. they communicate using strictly noise. a sort of echolocation if you will.

@saviorofthestars “they do, huh?” his lips flattened and not a twitch than lingered in his expression. fingers gripping the glass released, and he sat straighter, interest beginning to grow. ⠀⠀⠀ “and what size?”
i can confidently say they don't abduct cows. ⁽ ryland cleared his throat and he dropped the jokes, for now. ⁾ very intelligent. the aliens i came across resembled rocks. all different shapes and colors. it was incredible.

phd in molecular biology. my college would want me to say i learned it all exclusively there but i don't owe everything to them. i was always gifted academically.
