Hey, guys! Like many of you, I've been intently following the ONC rules for this year, and they've finally removed that clause and the Wattpad Premium subscription as part of the prize. This means that even if your entry wins, you will still retain the rights to your story.
Because of this whole ONC fiasco, I've been wildly contemplating continuing to post my stories on Wattpad, especially my longer works. I feel like Wattpad as a whole has stopped valuing their writers as much as they did in the past. I mean, we can clearly see that in the ONC rules, and they only changed them because everyone began complaining and more popular writers came out on their MB's to state that they weren't entering.
With that being said, I also want to bring up NovelHD, and how that mirror site is still up and running. And our works are still on there. Wattpad seems to have made no effort to try and remove the site. Although I know that copyright is different in other countries, we work hard for our writing to just be ripped and posted somewhere else.
All this being said, I still love the Wattpad community. I truly enjoy interacting with all the writing buddies I've met on here, so this is not a rant saying that I am leaving. However, my participation on Wattpad is going to change greatly. For one... I won't be posting longer works.
Now that I've already started posting Hana and the Memoranda, I'm going to continue because I've already promised you all that you could read it. However, from now on, I'm done posting novel-length work on here. If Wattpad can't respect the rights of writers to keep their own sweat and tears, then I can't respect them enough to sell away my soul for nothing.
Anyway, sorry for the long notif, but this has been weighing on me. The third chapter of HatM is up, so check it out:
