@nicholasnelsson that must have been so irritating to hear!! this is one of the reasons i rarely watch shows with so-called ‘South Asian rep’, because i know they make errors like this and it just ruins the story for me. i want representation of people like me directed by people like me who are grounded in and aware of their culture. i don’t know much about the Sharma sisters’ backstories, but it makes no sense that two sisters would be referring to each other by titles that are from different languages if they didn’t grow up speaking those languages lol.

I wish all these people who claim to care so much about representation actually bothered to do some research on the cultures they’re representing— that’s why the second season on Bridgerton annoyed me so much it was clear that the writers had done zero research on Indian culture because Sharma is a North Indian (and highly stereotypical) last name but Kate refers to Edwina as ‘bonne’ which is Bengali but then Edwina refers to Kate as ‘didi’ which is Hindi but the actresses who play the sisters are from South India where they don’t speak Bengali and rarely speak Hindi 

@lolnotyourbusiness I swear watching people in the wests expressions when I tell them that there are Sikhs in Pakistan, Tamilians in Sri Lanka and people who look like East Asians in India 

The rewrite won’t be anything drastic, major plot points will remain the same but there will be a  change in characterisation, etc

So, I’ve them down and will start to republish shortly

@lolnotyourbusiness I’m good! I’ve been busy with exams too, thus the inability to write anything (and tysm!! I’m really proud of this theme)
