            [   when gon was no longer that close to him,  illumi stood up straight again and folded his arms across his chest.  like once before,  he seemed almost...  confused by gon's words.  the assassin frowned lightly to himself.   ]   that is what i have been doing...  no?  i have not seen him in quite some time now.  even then,  as his older brother,  i have certain responsibilities over him.  not that /you/ would understand. 

[  feeling  his  skin  crawl  at  the broken  space  bubble  he  once  had  ,  he  quickly  zipped  backwards  ,  a  good  twenty  feet from  illumi  .  all  within  one  motion  .  he  couldn't  stand  being that  close  to  the  male  ,  especially  not  with  how  his  eyes looked  .  there  was  something cynical  within  the  dead  stare  &  gon  did  not  want  to  find  out  what  would  happen  if  he  held  that  gaze  at  all  .  ]

"if i find out you know and did not tell me,  i will make quick work of you."  he threatened,  voice lacking emotion.

            kurapika did not move from where they stood, even when illumi leaned forward. anyone would be intimidated by the older zoldyck, but kurapika wasn't. " your important family matters are not my concern. he went off with gon somewhere, " he answered, rather vaguely. but that would be the only information he would give the ravenette.

            illumi stepped closer only to lean all the way down until he could stare right into the other's eyes,  fingers twitching at his side.  he itched to go for his needles.  to kill kurapika right here.  but,  he dismissed the thought immediately.  "do you even know where he is?  this is a family matter of utmost importance.  if you know,  you must tell me."

            "i know that."  illumi /almost/ snapped,  but he was able to keep his tone the same slow,  empty drawl as it often seemed to be.  "what use is an assassin in bad health?  i take care of myself,  kalluto."  he told him,  shoulders relaxing as he sighed to himself.  "why are we talking about this?"

            kalluto's gaze slid to where illumi was, " not enough, it seems, " he felt himself saying out loud. hearing illumi speak again, he suppressed the urge to roll his eyes at the words. " i find it difficult to only think of myself when you look like you don't take care of yourself. " he responded, " the family business is important, yes, but so is your health. "

            "of course i sleep."  illumi's eyes narrowed a little at the youngest zoldyck child.  why did kalluto care if he got sleep?  ah.  wait.  perhaps he was mistaking simple curiosity for care.  yes.  that was it.  it was understandable for the child to be /curious/.  it was no good if the oldest assassin amongst his siblings was thought to be slacking because he did not get enough shut eye.  what an awful example that would make him.  "good.  that is all that matters.  you should think of nothing but /your/ sleep and /your/ well-being.  making sure /your/ abilities are up to par should be your only concern."

            friend?  *  illumi detested such a word.  saying left a sour taste in his mouth.  'friends' drove his younger brother away from home.  slowly he tilted his head to one side,  causing long and dark hair to fall into his face.  *  we are not friends.  assassins don't have friends.  you are speaking nonsense and it would be in your best interest /not to/.  

[  a soft chuckle left his lips at the reply .  ]  of course it’s not my business , but nothing is my business , really . if i didn’t pry into things then i would still be stuck in that wreck of my hometown . really now , is it ? you won’t tell me , as a friend ? you got me quite curious .
