Honestly, how did you manage family dinners with your cousin? I don't think I've met anyone who can talk so much about themselves.

zabiniheiress

A lot easier said than done when you're sitting beside him in class. He's very loud, like obnoxiously so. At this rate, I'm almost convinced he can talk underwater.

@zabiniheiress .ᐟ ⠀⠀ honest answer? tune it out. pay attention to literally anything other than his voice, even if it’s as silly as a fruit bowl. he’ll find someone else to annoy if you do it enough times.

Shh, you cannot tell the professors about this.

* at least he had that problem taken care of if he ended up running late from something. though he rather hoped that wasn't the case. he found himself leaning back against the wall, resting his head against it as he watched Narcissa play with the puppies * I'll have to find homes for them eventually. I don't think I can keep all of them. Any chance you'd want one? * the offer was made casually, though they both knew he would have done so anyway. she would have been the first person he would have asked, regardless of if she had found out the secret or not *

@demonwithxn * they were so cute, it was entirely unfair. how could such small animals give a person such joy? oh, she had no idea but she loved it. * asking bel probably wouldn’t be the best idea, i will confirm that. * she moved to trace some shapes on the side of the basket that help them, finding it helpful to keep her excitement at bay. * i would never let such beauties die, certainly not if i can help it.

* he shifted over slightly so she could squeeze in beside him, watching as her features lit up with sheer joy at seeing the little creatures * You're the only person I really trust * he pointed out * Especially with this kind of secret. I'm not going to be asking Avery and I'm definitely not asking your sister. But at least I know you'll keep my secret /and/ keep them alive.

❝ i could listen to you talk for hours. ❞

He had been sitting there at that table in the library for a good half an hour, having not even said so much as a word. Easy to see why, when one saw who his company was. She was probably rambling at this stage, or at least, that would have been what others would have said, though Adolph had never quite seen it in the same light. Narcissa could have been talking about the latest hairstyles for pureblood ladies and he still would have been sitting there, listening in rapture to whatever words had come out of her mouth. Anyone else, and he probably would have hexed them into oblivion for talking his ear off. It was only when she seemed to slow down a little, that he shifted his hand from under his chin, waving her on. "No need to stop," he told her, not wanting her to feel uncomfortable or even mildly embarrassed by the rambling. "I could listen to you talk for hours."

"You do realise I have read a great majority of these books already?" he pointed out, making an idle gesture in the general direction of the bookcases. Holidays spent at Hogwarts had been boring, though much preferred to the alternative, and therefore he had spent a great deal of time within these walls when he had been younger, reading through the pages of whatever caught his fancy. As for doing his own work... well he could do that in the middle of the night when he couldn't sleep. Not that it mattered. He had most of it completed anyway. Despite his reputation, he wasn't exactly foolish enough to let his school work slip. That wasn't exactly helpful in helping anyone fly under the radar. Besides, there were some subjects he thoroughly enjoyed. Although, Adolph wouldn't openly admit that. There were a select handful of friends who knew the truth, but that was as far as it went. "Homework isn't that exciting, despite what you might think. So that just leaves listening you. Far more interesting, I'd say.

the blonde couldn’t help but roll her eyes at his words of the other slytherin, leaning on the table in between then and crossing her arms in the same way he had. “i don’t think you have better things to be doing, i just simply have a bit of hope that one day you’ll wake up and actually do better things with your time. for example, instead of being in the library listening to me drag on and on about some silly little thing, you could be in the library to get your work done or simply just to pick up a book and read.” her tone had come out a bit snarkier than she’d intended, but they had been well enough friends that she knew he could take it. and if, for some odd reason, he couldn’t? well, she probably wouldn’t apologize or take it back anyway. narcissa probably wouldn’t have called him a stalker, but she definitely would have questioned him had she known she was the only reason he was here. after all, narcissa had finally accepted the situation and stopped trying to push adolph away or bring him closer. he was simply there, the same way he used to be, and that was that.

The colour that tinted her cheeks had to be one of his favourites, not that he would ever admit that aloud. Not because he was ashamed of such a thing, far from it, but simply because he knew it would only embarrass her further. He wasn't a great person, there was no doubt about that, but that didn't mean he was completely heartless. Instead, he just gave her a half crooked smirk, crossing his arms in front of him. "Who said I was worrying?" he retaliated, amusement radiating from his tone. "You seem to think I have better things to be doing than listening. But we both know that's not true." The only reason he was in the library was because he had known Narcissa was going to be there. Perhaps that could have labelled him as a stalker, but really, he just knew her well enough to understand her patterns and behaviours.
