Hi hope you are good am a new writer. How do I ensure my work won't be stolen on wattpad.

A brief summary of things you need to know & do about Wattpad's breach:
          
          - has affected everyone on Wattpad.
          - hackers won't be able to sift through millions of people's accounts to obtain their personal information.
          - change: Wattpad account's password, email address password, and, as a precaution, the passwords for other social medias if they are the same as your Wattpad passwords.
          - change date of birth so that the hackers won't tamper with your information if they think it to be false.
          - for additional security, set up your email with a 2 step verification to make it harder to be breached.
          - from an ambassador: "they only got things associated with Wattpad but were not able to access them for personal information. These are standard things that don't effect anyone, but it is important to change your password to prevent anything from occurring because things like this can happen at any moment of the day."
          - to see what Wattpad can access: go to "manage emails" option & click on the email you want to manage, then go to "security" to see what Wattpad can see. it will show what it has access to, & you have the option to take away their permission to view it.
          - experiencing trouble with changing passwords, talk to an ambassador.
          - change passwords every 3 months.
          - if you have given out personal information on Wattpad, this is not Wattpad's fault.
          - if your email address had been breached, you would definitely have been notified of it (on gmail).
          - Wattpad can see your date of birth.
          - from an ambassador: "Your name isn't out there, your address isn't, and neither is your financial information."
          
          of course, Wattpad has its downsides but I think it's the same for really any sites. in my help book I'll probably go into depths on this, because I think there's a lot of things to cover. I fully understand why people are panicking & your worries are totally justified. I hope this short summary can help clear things up a little on what needs to be done.

A little late to say this but, in regards to the situation about the site being hacked. This does not mean all your personal information has been breached. Wattpad does NOT keep a history of your information. Which means that there will be NO ability for hackers to obtain any of this information aside from what you have given. And this is why they require you to change your password, to stay on the safe side. In general, everyone should change their passwords every 3 months to avoid any of this happening. The rumor about people being able to access all your personal information is, in fact, just a rumor meant to scare people.
          
          Yes, Wattpad has not yet released an official statement. This is because they're working very hard to investigate their recent findings. Everyone, you can find their statement of what happened in the known issues, debunking what those articles (that provide NO evidence for their claims) say about how personal information is being sold for bitcoin.
          
          For the record, your date of birth does not provide hackers your location or your name. Wattpad only asks for your birthday to ensure that you are over 13 years of age, and they require an email address to send you news and other information. Wattpad does not need you to give out your personal information. They have no use for it.
          
          All the announcements circulating around by users stating that personal information has been leaked, please delete it to stop spreading false information. I'm sure Wattpad has its reasons for the delay.
