Okay, so I was just doing my habitual Wattpad snooping, yknow, as you do, and I found one of the craziest things I've ever seen on the platform. It's about two months old by now but I couldn't say nothing simply because of how astounded I was reading each post.
Now I'm sharing it.
I obviously won't give out the account's name, this isn't me trying throw intentional hate their way, but the writer was essentially threatening their audience to find them a 'co-writer' who, by their own description, had to be perfect in ever way, like a totally unreasonable standard for a person to be, by the end of the month or else they would retire and delete their stories.
Now this co-writer had to be online 24/7, be able to produce Shakespearean epics, binge watch shows at the drop of a dime. I've never read a story from this person so I don't know what their writing quality is like, but they had more than 700 followers and a story with more than 200k reads, so not a small account by any margin. Regardless, I genuinely couldn't understand needing someone else to write for me, especially if I already had that large an established base.
The kicker was that across the entire month they would continue blaming their own audience for failing to find them a co-writer. Like, what? Actually delusional behaviour.
The sad part is that they appear to have some really devoted followers who actually tried really hard to find them a co-writer, but their work was just dismissed or belittled, and then they were once more blamed for not finding a worthy co-writer. I should note that there was no sign that this writer was actually attempting to seek out a co-writer in their own time and was off-loading the entire thing onto their audience to solve.
Now I know this is probably just some entitled child lashing out because they can't write on their own, but the sheer audacity alone...
I was stunned, to say the least.
