I'm starting to wonder if having the first four Fundamental Force chapters be incredibly dense on breaking down science and what each of what the forces can do as a Quirk in combat but also just in general turned off an enormous potential readerbase.

Like if I'd just written: 'Oh, here's [L/N], he can control reality and he's working for AFO, anyway, let's get straight into U. A.!' I genuinely think it would be way over 100k reads at this point. The first chapter has the lowest reader completion rate (that's not too odd, most stories do), doesn't immediately get into the MHA story, and most of the comments are just people saying they don't understand what's going on.

Genderbent Todoroki definitely turned a lot of people away early on, I can understand that, but what can I say? I'm a simple man with simple needs. I'm not sure if being a villain insert would attract more or less people, I always liked reading villain stories more, but I'm not the majority of readers.

Honestly though, I'm kinda glad in a way? I feel like it filtered out a lot of the children and annoying people from reading it. Not to sound too elitist, but I don't mind some MHA fans not reading it, if you get what I'm saying. I always want to add more science into the story whenever I can, and [L/N] breaking down Quirks. I really enjoying researching it myself and figuring things out. Hopefully we can see more of that soon.

@minesweeper0 I personally liked the quirk explanation in the first couple chapters and thought it was a great introduction to this story. What drew me in the most was the idea of the insert being a villain instead of a hero student or someone who looks up to heroes since there are to many of those on Wattpad which gets repetitive. The start to this story was refreshing for me when I first read it.

@minesweeper0 honestly i feel like my story has way more mature themes. Like i legit describe boiling homan bodies there and so far it stayed up. So i dont think that will be a problem but to be sure u can just save it in google docs or smt.

Just watched Fantastic Four: First Steps, gonna write down more thoughts later, but as a diehard FF fan, what else can I say but peak? ABSOLUTE CINEMA!

          We are so back...

@minesweeper0 saw the movie too was great definitely the best version of it and the 60s style setting was a nice touch to honor the comics along with other subtle things like the universe 828 is for august 28th Jack Kirby birthday

It was also very clear, as other people have said, that this movie was cut-up in the editing room. I'm sure there's a large amount of footage that would've added a ton to this film, especially when it comes to the Thing, which is a bit of a letdown since he's my favourite. They seed in his subplot but it's never properly explored and falls flat. I also felt that the way they presented the Thing and how people in universe interacted with him was a bit lacking, there wasn't much struggle about his appearance or him fitting in, everyone just accepts him. I blame the comic this film was based on mostly, which is also named First Steps (I'm pretty sure), where the FF aren't shunned at first for their powers and are lauded as heroes from the jump. I just think this interpretation is boring. And it was one of the best parts of the 2000s movies. Ben feels like the only FF member who was better portrayed in those films by contrast.

There are smaller things, like they were pretty basic with Reed's powers, he stretches but it's nothing more than reaching out and grabbing things or jumping up high. Ben doesn't really get to shine much in fights either, it's most Sue and Johnny, and while that's cool, I can't help but want to see more clobberin'...

I know I sound very critical here, but that's just cause I care about these characters a lot. Regardless, I'd definitely recommend it. Fantastic Four: First Steps gets an 8/10.

            Nuff said!

Alright. General thoughts, I won't give any major spoilers. I think this is the best adaptation of the FF we've ever gotten, but more than that, the aesthetic of the universe was great, I loved the 60s-70s look and if I were producing the MCU from the ground up I'd have the entire universe done in the same way. If you're a comic fan, you're probably gonna like this film, especially of the original 60s run. They really focus on that golden age and don't feel scared to cometely modernise everything.

As someone who didn't think Pedro Pascal would be a good Reed Richards and didn't care for Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, I've gotta admit both of them were pretty stellar casting, alongside Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm and Ebon Moss as Ben Grimm, but I already knew they'd be great. Pedro was definitely the stand-out for me, he really felt like Reed. Galactus looked perfect, they gave him all the aura he deserved.

It wasn't perfect. Julia Garner's Silver Surfer was fine, that's as much as I can say. I didn't really care for her too much, and once you realise why they chose a woman iteration instead of the Silver Surfer we all know, it stands out like a sore thumb and undermines having her as an actual independent character and more as just a tool for the plot to progress.

I think I'm gonna rewrite the ending of the last MHA chapter cause it's not exactly how I wanted it to end. I'm not gonna massively change the result, that'll stay the same, but there's a few details I didn't include.

@minesweeper0 as far as brits go you're definitely alright, to be fair though there aren't many cool British people in real life that I could name besides actors and actresses, you can't all be austin powers.

The Fantastic 4? Or FF Y/n?

The FF are my favourite superhero team though, so I might be a little biased.

@alek_ackerman I think Phantom gets bodied nine-times out of ten, even if they fight immediately. Human Torch and Invisible Woman are the main factors to consider. Human Torch out speeds and absorbs (some) radiation, so half of [L/N]'s powers don't even work on him. Invisible Woman has a very similar powerset to [L/N], and if he's distracted against Johnny she could very easily just one-tap him. The Thing and Mister Fantastic aren't really doing much in this fight. Mister Fantastic could probably deduce [L/N]'s powers within a short period and think of ways to fight around it. Even if [L/N] out the gate just blackholes someone, let's say he kills Johnny immediately, he'll suffer with his Quirk's weakness and it'll only get aggravated the more he fights making him continually weaker, until it's a battle of endurance, and I don't think he can deal with the Thing at that point. It's more balanced then if he were to be fighting 616 FF since BT's FF have less experience (they're essentially still in their first year as superheroes), but I don't think that changes too much. This also isn't including Crystal who I might technically consider a member of BT's FF at this point, even though its unofficial and hasn't been brought up much. I don't think she'd change much though. The Phantom does have some points on his side though. It does depend on whether they're all blood lusted cause the FF wouldn’t immediately go for the kill, while [L/N] wouldn't hesitate to kill any of them. Also Sue might be pregnant (wink) so that might make it harder for her to keep up in a fight endurance-wise. If [L/N] really locked in there's a chance he could win but he would come out the other end looking like a big fleshy tumour with arms and legs, so it would be a pyrrhic victory.

Okay, I haven't had something like this before so it feels incredibly cool but someone made fanart of the Phantom and I've gotta spread it around. The art's so, so good, basically just what I imagine he looks like in my own head cannon.
Please go and show it some love, seeing community things like this on Wattpad always brightens my day, and we should encourage it:

Bro, the Rival devs no exactly what they're doin' with the new Luna Snow and Psylocke skins and highlight cinematics. Like the gooner accusations were already proven, but now it's just undoubtable. I respect it though, comics have always had big gooner energy, it's a defining part of the culture. A time-honoured tradition I'm glad to see is still being upheld. Brings a tear to the eye, even.

So I'm going to see the new Superman film.

Am I the only one who isn't as hyped as a DC fan like myself should be? I LOVE Superman, he's awesome. I loved Henry Cavill as Superman, critique the Snyder films and their writing as you will because there are many legitimate criticisms and errors (even as someone who liked the more dark tone, I recognise this), but Cavill was just him, man. This isn't to shit on the new guy but the fact they led us along for so long with potentially bringing Cavill back only to redo everything really rubbed me the wrong way.

I didn't really like the new Batman film either, so maybe I'm just not with this new cinematic universe. Don't know if I'm in the minority or not. I could rant in a much longer post for my reasoning. But I'll post my thoughts on Superman when I go see it. Hopefully it's good...

BUT I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FANTASTIC FOUR HOLY SHIT BEN GRIMM BEN GRIMM BEN GRIMM CLOBBERING TIME FLAME ON FLAME ON FIRST FAMILY RAAAAAAAAH!

minesweeper0

@meman9907 I mean, my first story was a DC story even if it was crossover. If you're asking about whether I've thought about doing a story that's solely DC universe, then yes, but I haven't given enough thought to it.

@minesweeper0 Hey i hope this isn't rude, but since we're on the topic of dc stuff i was curious if you were considered making your own work relating to that universe- like black tarantula. im not saying are you making one currently just wondering if it ever crossed your mind?

@ezioenthusiast Maybe this is a reach but if Warner Brothers didn't force a Justice League film directly after Man of Steel without even a real origin film for Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, etc then there would've been way more room in the movies for Cavill's Superman to show some more human character development (I don't think he's a narcissistic god but he could've been given more human moments). The fact they rushed their Avengers film screwed the universe from the start imo.
