I'm never on here so I bet most of you forgot about my irrelevant self and are wondering why I'm on your newsfeed. On Wednesday on my way to ballet my mom and I drove past the place where Philando Castille was fatally shot. Already knowing that I lived near where he had been shot irked me and driving past it was a whole other experience. As we were passing by there was a sign that read in all caps "FALCON HEIGHTS, THE NATION IS WATCHING" and it really got to me. I feel like in a way that gave me false hope about Philando getting justice but deep down I knew that probably wouldn't happen because of the messed up American Justice System. Today when I was leaving ballet I heard the Officer Yanez was acquitted and I wasn't sad, I was angry and horrified. It reiterated that you can murder a black man or woman and get away with it even though you shot them multiple times on accident. After hearing his mom speak I wanted to cry. In a way Philando's case went a little better than some in the aspect that the county attorney went through with actually filing charges and bringing in experts. Today was just another example of why many people of color don't trust the police. #BlackLivesMatter
