❝ one thing i have learnt this year is to live and live in the moment. life is tough, life is overwhelming and life is a struggle. a struggle to hold on. a constant battle of choosing between what it is and what it should be. this year, you found yourself in situations you never could've possibly imagined yourself to be in. you looked for yourself in everywhere you went and everyone you met. you thrived, you survived, you tried - even if barely. for the year, days, life to come, live. live in the moment. stay. breathe. it gets better. ❞

❝ idk who needs to hear this but be so completely yourself that everyone else feels safe to be themselves too. stop changing yourself, your habits, your way of thinking, acting, dressing, speaking; only to be liked or accepted by people or their society. as friends, stop being mean, pretending of it as a joke. stop being insensitive towards someone's appearance. stop letting the third one walk behind saying the path is too small. compromise. squeeze em in. as a girl, stop dressing or speaking in a certain way to be noticed by a specific guy. stop pretending to not notice when another girl needs your help. as a guy, stop killing your habits just because someone else says they're not 'manly' enough. as lovers, stop keeping things from the other just for their sake. as a parent, stop doing what others tell you what would be good for your child. life is too short to have it be lived as someone else. be responsible. stay you. ❞

❝ you are here for a reason. i know that sometimes it doesn't feel that way. i know that sometimes life can be a difficult thing to navigate. it can break you down and challenge you in ways you never thought it would but i also know that you have the potential to do incredible things in this world. you have the capacity to overcome whatever it is that is hurting you or confusing you or making you doubt yourself. i need you to believe in that. believe, with reckless abandon, that you are meant to be here. trust in yourself - even if you haven't figured out what inspires you deeply, even if you haven't discovered your purpose, even if you're moving forward in the simplest, smallest of ways. just keep going. wake up each morning and be gentle with yourself. do the work. feel whatever it is that you need to feel. tuck beautiful memories into your chest for safekeeping, revisit them whenever things get too tough. remind yourself of the art you want to create, of the things you wish to write, of the places you want to visit, of the people you have yet to meet. no matter what, just continue to remind yourself that you are going to make it. ❞

❝ hey lila. i want you to know that i'm proud of you. i'm proud of you for getting through another year. things have not exactly been smooth but i'm proud of you for getting back up each time life has pulled you down. i'm proud of you for trying, for speaking up. the year has taught you alot, changed you alot. you've achieved or done things you never thought you were capable of. give yourself some credit; the permission to unfold. strip down to the rawest and most authentic version of yourself. don't dwell on the past. look into it, learn from it, figure out where you went wrong and move on. do not conceal your emotions. you need not to be someone else. who you are is perfect. ❞
