I'm Kate, and I write. Sometimes.

I'm twenty-four. I like nude lipstick, horror movies, and Spanish poetry. I'm obsessed with dinosaurs, sharks, and outer space. I've mastered the art of walking while reading. I like traveling, hiking, and questioning the meaning of my existence. And I get into online fights about intersectional feminism, politics, and social justice.

I write books about Filipino women. Sometimes, they will feature men, and other women of other ethnicities and nationalities. But mostly, they'll be about Filipino women, in all sorts of different settings and genres, doing different jobs and learning different things, in varying kinds of relationships, and sometimes no relationships at all. I feel that there is an extreme lack of representation for my nationality in mainstream publishing, and while I don't hold out hope that this will be rectified soon, the least I can do is contribute to that pool of reading material in my own little way.

I am a strong believer in #OwnVoices and #DiverseBooks, and everything I write will reflect that. Almost none of my protagonists are white, and none of my books will be set in the United States, Canada, or Europe (with the possible exception of vacation/holiday themed stories - I'm open to possibilities).

I'm balancing a full-time job with graduate school (ick), so this whole venture is really just a way for me to unwind, have a little fun, and maybe learn something new!

I also blog. Click the link below if you're up for more of my ramblings!
