“Hold on, hold on.” He lifted a hand, shaking his head with a little chuckle. “You're tellin' me you ain't got a stomach, ain't got internal organs, and yet here you are, walkin' around talkin' to me like anybody else? And I thought I had it strange, bein' a cowboy no taller than a coffee mug” he paused, glancing Ahkmenrah up and down before shrugging “reckon that explains a thing or two, though I ain't sure I wanna spend the rest of the night thinkin' about it. No offense, Your Highness.”
The mention of mummification earned a curious tilt of his head, but Jedediah wisely decided against asking any further questions. There were some things a man was better off not knowing, and he had a sneaking suspicion that this was one of them. Besides, there were far more important matters at hand “now, that's what I like to hear!” he exclaimed, rubbing his hands together at the prince's cheerful agreement. “A pharaoh who knows how to keep a secret. Why, I might just have to start callin' you my favourite royal.”
He fell into step beside Ahkmenrah, his boots tapping against the floor as they made their way towards the guard's office. The prospect of finding something to eat had done wonders for his mood, and his earlier indignation was quickly giving way to eager anticipation “tell me somethin', Prince. If you ain't never had to worry about gettin' hungry, does that mean you've never had a hankerin' for somethin' sweet? Chocolate, maybe? 'Cause if we find any in that office, I'd be mighty obliged to show you what you've been missin'.”
