It keeps crashing when I try to comment so here’s that. Abt your Frenchie fic, with the protagonist whose name is Léon.
Just wrote a fucking pavement of a comment. Full on explaining that ‘grew up in a shitty place in Paris, hated the french and the language and hid in English and then moved to Marseille alone and now I’m learning to like the language again and blah blah blah. Kind of glad Wattpad crashed cause that detailed shit was not necessary to say thanks. My whole life I dreamed of leaving France, fucking off and never speaking it ever again. My accent is a puddle of a bunch of accents I’ve heard of English. Spent the better part of six years writing and speaking more of English than french. So yeah it’s European, but I don’t get spotted as a french very often. Never listened to Dans ma ruche completely before this line. It’s a good song. If you like french rap, and not just your character, I’d recommend Damso’s new album. It’s really good.
Anyway just thanks cause shit like this, french characters, french words slipping in English, I used to think it was just awful. Shameful, yknow. And yeah the french in France are privileged as fuck and I almost always had food on the table but man was I made to just reject everything that was a part of me. And it helps. Reading this stuff. And I am gonna keep reading although it’s half past four in the morning because I have my final FINAL french exam tomorrow (l’oral du bac de français). Got some white wine (it cost me less than 7€.
