Then… to the Arknights fanfic.
I chose to write Originium Gambit in first person simply because I wanted to try it. And the reason as to why it got 88k words (on the Word document) is because well, the inner thoughts of Ivan, his explanations, and whatever he thinks are central to the story. Being a first-person story and all that.
I skipped most of the world building explanations because I’d assume the people looking for and reading an Arknights fanfic would’ve known about the setting and the characters by now.
With first-person stories, you can be very minute with your story telling. You can be very detailed when you are making your character describe something or describe what he is doing in detail. Or to write about his thoughts when speaking to another person, likely strategizing or other cunning thoughts.
Other than that, all the other previous things I mentioned still apply.
Oh and by the way, both of those stories have no ‘side story’ of some sort. All of them are central to the main plot and progresses the story every chapter.
