Honestly, I think that while storytelling is my first love, writing does not come as naturally to me as I would have hoped. So, to make up for this obvious character flaw, I read everything I can get my hands on.

My first attempt at writing was not fan-fiction. It was a very sad story about a fifteen-year-old girl's birthday. It was written on notebook paper, and it probably was a page and a half long. The girl was a rape victim (at the hands of her own father) and she was hiding in her bedroom closet, with a single candle and a lighter, crying because her period had not come.

It probably was not the best piece of writing, but it was complete, and my own, and that was all that mattered. It had actually been a prompt for some English class- the teacher had given us a picture of a birthday candle, and she told us to come up with the story behind it.

When I handed mine in, she was horrified. I was proud.
I think that probably says a lot about me.
