Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t been very active. Been obscenely busy lately, anyway I’m just asking because I’m confused by this weird trend with a lot of series.
Why are so many people obsessed with body switching?!
Asking because I’ve seen the whole thing with Superior Spider-Man with Doc Oct stealing spider man’s body, and recently I found out about the alternate timeline story with Doctor Doom switching bodies with a young Iron man. Like seriously why do we do this? It’s freaky to me, sure in some contexts it may make for a strong storyline with characters learning how tough another’s life actually is and allows them to resolve issues between them, or villains to see the importance of super heroes. But beyond that, you’re literally giving villains the opportunity to use the guise of their enemy to ruin the lives and abuse the power and influence they now possess.
I mean sure I’m a bit obsessed with the concept of shapeshifting but thats different, sure you’ll have a different body but in some cases it’s still your own self and you’d have benefits to transforming rather than switching bodies. Additionally what if something goes wrong with the body swap and both you and the person you’re swapping with both end up either scrambling your minds permanently or dying. And again, why would you trade your identity for some one else’s not only would you be forced to act and have the same habits and standards as the person you’re swapped with, but also have to refrain from doing the things you enjoyed doing due to said acting and will eventually regret what happened and want to go back, with no surefire way to do so.
Sorry, this question turned into a bit of a rant really quick, I just wanted to get that frustration off my chest.
