orphaned at ten after a bomb killed their parents, pietro and wanda maximoff were forced to live on the streets. they seek refuge in a rebel commune called 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀, dedicating their lives to protesting against sokovia's fascist government. during this time, the twins get closer to other members of the cause and become an inseparable family with them. it is also during this time that pietro befriends anya, an undercover red room agent who had been posing as an ally.

over the years, the twins gain notoriety for leading protests, placing them under hydra's radar. they are eventually approached by dr. list, who promises them power unimaginable, capable of freeing their country - but at the expense of their own freedom. swayed by the doctor's words, wanda and pietro go through hydra's torturous experiments. they miraculously survive the trials and are gifted powers by 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲.

pietro maximoff gains 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿-𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 and an 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, earning him the title of 𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗦𝗜𝗟𝗩𝗘𝗥.
