valerian , restocking out of pure boredom , immediately perked up at the chime of the door. he spun to face the door , a hand already outstretched in a wave. "viktor! I've been waiting / ages / for you to come visit." he trudged over with a wide smile. "becausee! I've heard whispers that a certain someone wore a certain outfit to an event that's a little too smart for me to repeat."

( @barcodes- ) — [ it's been too long; too long that viktor has been drowned in heimerdinger's never-ending sea of busy work, and too long since he's been able to set foot in lock, stock, and barrel. he surprises himself with how desperate he is for this reprieve from the lab, but the comfort that's found in valerian's voice instantly makes the pieces fall into place. his mouth widens into a mirrored smile, loose and easy and sly. ] whispers , mm ? i had hoped to deliver the news personally . i wish you had been there .

“what are you even working on anyways…you’ve been hunched over there for an hour” *pushing herself up from the ground she would finally saunter over to peek over his shoulder, curious of what could be so interesting one would just stare for such a long period of time*

            * vi would take on the expression of a puppy scorned , disappointed that whatever it was he may be working on wasn’t as exciting as her gauntlets , which had definitely been on a wear and tear streak with how she used them but she would not say that *

« early . . . yknow what ? i won’t attempt to repeat or fully understand whatever it was you just said.

            * she would puff out and reach for the pointer , picking it up and handing it to him , watching carefully , and with measured silence. *

( oh for sure , and vi is the one slipping the ‘do you think she’s done yet?’ question. but will definitely ask the one in a million smart question here and there

( @zaunsbruising ) — it is not another pair of gauntlets , so keep your hands away . [ he doesn't look up as she approaches, but he doesn't shoo her away either. various bits of bronze and silver are strewn before him, pieces in various stages of completion. he's frowning as he rubs a dent out of a particular plate. ] it's an increased capacitor for the hexgems — well . a very early version , at least . hand me that needle point multimeter .

❲ ♯. ❳ SHE would square shoulders , the various metal plates of armor on her body shifting and clanking , brown orbs gleaming with wariness and the slightest undertone of uncertainty , as she took in the others form and appearance , someone so . . . in her view , so dainty, helpless even; had he not singlehandedly given life into people’s once broken bodies and reformed so many into improved states of themselves. ❝ is there any particular reason you find these . . . people worth a second chance ? ❞ eyes hardening they would lean against the nearest sturdy object and cross her arms over her chest. ❝ or do you do it out of pity ? ❞

( @wolfschosen ) — [ the herald stands tall, a stark contrast to the constant bend of his spine from before. before he'd been freed and given the ability to free others. before he'd died, and before the hexcore had brought him back. he himself had been granted a second chance; who was he to deny the same opportunity? slender mauve fingers curl around his staff, and he regards the warlord with measured detachment . ] it is my responsibility . voices call to me , and i will not leave them unanswered . all deserve to live in peace within themselves .

"do you ... " he trailed off , eyes looking anywhere but at the other. "do you believe that I am — / just / my code? ones and zeroes , deceiving others into thinking I'm more? more than .. wires and metal."

the more examples listed off slowly made them perk up. he angled his eyes to the side , a clear sign that he was thinking. a moment later it gave a small nod of understanding. "I suppose that is only logical. even if I still question certain parts of my making." as if to prove a point — and try an attempt as at a joke , he lifted a hand , the tip of one of their fingers retracting its casing. with a ' poof ' sound effect made by the boy , a handful of confetti spit out right into viktor's face. "like .. like that." their eyes squinted in a showing of amusement. "I do not know why I have the capability to do such a thing. with so many functions it is hard to determine what my ' purpose ' is." their fans spat out a sigh. "I regret some connections , yes. my negative emotions have a starting point , after all. alas , I do not regret anything I have learned. it was ... painful , to live in a programmed mind." having his consciousness form was the only true pain the android has ever felt. searing pain to the point his sensors constantly overloaded. it wasn't uncommon for his program to fully shutdown during that time period. and yet , the time spent void of emotions hurt more than any of that.

( @mechanized- ) — [ viktor's smile is soft, an attempt at a soothing gesture; of course he knows the other would never think so little of him. he stands to approach the other, the click of his cane against the floor ringing out in the space. he has never been skilled in providing comfort to others, but he cannot let the android spiral. ] cyanoacrylate adhesives were made to perform medium strength repairs , but they function better as wound dressings . hemostats were designed as a surgical tool , but i have stockpiled many of them for use in the lab . — we create our own purpose , esaities . your growing humanity enables you to connect with and help many people , myself included , and you will go on to assimilate with countless more . a mistake is something one regrets . do you regret the connections you have made ?

the android startled , whipping his head upwards to give a rabid shake of his head. a frantic denial towards the question. "of course not! I would never think of you that way ... " the robot did not have the ability to cry , something heimerdinger had apologized for already. instead a rare frown stretched across his face. the action a bit wobbly , his fans still stuttering from his panic. "it's just — I was / made / to be that. my purpose was not to feel humane. I am a ... pleasant mistake , is all."
