            it's  an  absurd  reaction  in  what  he  knows  maeve  absolutely  does  not  need  right  now.   cruel  in  more  ways  than  one,   but  nevertheless  it's  what  he  knows.   his  job  was  once  to  kill  in  order  to  serve  a  timeline;  now,   he  wishes  his  job  involved  the  death  of  one  cowardly  man.  }    that's  one  way  of  phrasing  it.    {  he  says,  jaw  tense  despite  how  evenly  he  wishes  he  could  spread  his...anger ??   agitation ??   indignation ??    sylas'  eyes  close  as  he  treks  through  his  brain  for  any  signs  of  a  good  answer,   something  to  keep  her  from  feeling  like  her  trust  in  him  was  a  mistake.   maeve  doesn't  need  his  protection  any  longer,   not  in  that  regard.   }    i  don't  understand.    ( .. )    simply  put,  you  are  the  world's  most  divine,   enchanted  soul.   you  are  a  work  of  art  in  the  eyes  of  those  who  see,   and  to  not  recognize  that  is  a  crime  unlike  all  i've  seen  before.

            if  you'd  like  me  to  outright  say  it,   dearest,   i  can.   i've  grown  tired  of  his  attitude  with  you.    {  these  are  grounds  upon  which  sylas  cannot  stand,   an  only  child  whose  circumstances  would  never  allow  for  a  sibling  as  disrespectful  as  ben  has  become,    but  he  can't  help  but  to  arrive  at  protectiveness  regardless.  }    and  in  general.    i  know  i  never  got  to  meet  him,   but  i  prefer  the  original.

            no,   no,   maeve —      {  the  shame  in  his  eyes  can  be  likened  to  a  puppy  scolded  for  tearing  apart  the  house,   damp  with  tears  that  scream  relentlessly  of   regret.   he  can't  pretend  that  he  doesn't  deserve  her  anger,   not  when  what  he  did  could  have  served  as  detriment  to  her  entire  family.   his  choices  have  made  him  a  danger  to  the  very  woman  he  has  grown  to  adore.   how  can  he  be  proud  of  such  a  thing?   }    don't  forgive  me  so  easily.    i  don't  deserve  your  forgiveness,   and  you  deserve  an  apology.    ( .. )    i'm  sorry,   maeve.   for  everything.
