   Standing in front of you is a 17 - year old lady from the country nicknamed Pearl of the Orient, Gems of the East, Treasure Islands of the Pacific, Isles of Hope, and Land of the Morning. The country that offers beautiful, shining and happy smiles. 1,200 festivals, cuisines, culture and traditions that make this nation, vibrant. The cradle of the sumptuous kingdoms of  Namayan, Maynila, Tondo, and Butuan, the Rajanate of Cebu and the Sultanates of Maguindanao and Sulu. An archipelago of diverse ecosystems. Located above the equator, this country is one of the rice granaries of Asia, one of the top producers of fresh fruits, vegetables and seafoods. Invaded and colonized by the Spanish, Americans and Japanese, the people had to be like a bamboo grass, resilient and pliant. This nation is born of volcanoes, from the destructive Pinatubo to the dozing Taal. Spanning across four seas and an ocean, this country is the gateway of typhoons and disasters, the melting pot of the Archaic Asia, and the forgotten nation. Comprising of 7,107 islands, Filipinos tend to unite amidst of the swift flow of salt waters.
