when you're up at 4am, you write 3.5k+ words while watching the sunrise...❤️
(while acknowledging and accepting that you will be paying for it later with a chronic pain flare up, but somedays you just have to take the wins and losses where you can get them!)

KaterinPareaux

Sunrise can be magical. Tired eyes and sore bones but yes those colors just can’t be matched, nor the chill in the air that turns crisp right before, nor how the birds hush and then start up, like an orchestra warming up… some things are worth suffering for.

the way my "behind the scenes" styled final author's note for Florence might end up being the longest chapter in the book... I'm already 4k words in and I haven't even started breaking down all the chapters yet!❤️

KaterinPareaux

Oooo this sounds like a lovely framework. :D

a new Florence teaser for you all this morning... ❤️

But the thing was, as damned as he was, Tommy wanted to see her.

He wanted to see the way the moonlight melted down with the burning hue of her citrine light and glazed her flesh in a kiss of warmth that seemed to unburden the night. He wanted to see the faintest glint catch in her eyes at the sight of him crossing over her threshold, like she never quite tired of seeing him. He wanted the rose petals that followed her like an air of perfume, to overwhelm him and drown his senses in their floral bouquet. Eradicating the metallic tone that had flooded through the cavity and bathed his sense of smell in a single note of bloodshed.

But most of all, Tommy wanted to see her because for the first time in all his span of war, he'd been exposed to something he'd never felt before.

I wanted to tease something a little different this month, no dialogue but more of a glimpse into the emotion and descriptiveness of a scene. Only a little over two months left to go before I get to share this passion project with you all! Thank you for continuing to support me and my writing, especially on this project that isn't even out yet for you all to read! Your continued motivation and encouragement does wonders, I'm very grateful!❤️

I'm looking for Tommy's sister and Alfie story. Nineveh is the oc's name.

Okay I thought I was going crazy cause I found them on your page. Thank you!

@holalola28781 I believe the story might have been called New Day, although the author has since left Wattpad and deleted their account.

writing for the character of tommy shelby is such a challenging feat, even as I've been doing so for a few years now, nothing becomes quite easier in terms of making sure you are staying true to who he is.

I still find myself doubting or questioning lines and scenes, wondering whether it is believable or authentic enough to the character we know. Even now, as I'm in the process of editing an entire multi-chapter story, I find myself questioning every decision I made.

I do believe there is something to be said about taking a certain level of liberties or even the space given before or freshly after the war, that we don't see as much of in the show itself. But as writers, we are always walking that precarious line between realistic and an unlikely narrative. And no matter how long you've been doing it, it doesn't get any easier and I don't become any less doubtful of my own portrayal or work.

It's something we continue to strive for and work on and somedays we feel like we have captured it, other days we'll doubt every single strand of an idea. But as writers, we continue on and try the best we can... for ourselves.❤️

cqntralperk

@dixondarlin he's truly so difficult to write but you write him so well and with so much care that you have no reason to doubt yourself, trust me!

I just completed writing my upcoming Florence | A Thomas Shelby Short Story and I feel very emotional right now...❤️

I have been on this specific writing journey for well over two years now and to have reached the finish line in terms of writing and creating this story, is such a mixture of emotions. I feel such pride, elation and surprise in what I have been able to accomplish as well as a level of sadness, exhaustion and something I can't quite describe as writing for it has finally come to an end.

what a journey this has been... now onto the editing portion and getting it all prepped and ready to share with you all later this summer! Keep your eyes peeled for more teasers and questions I might have in need of feedback, but I cannot wait to share this passion project with you all this August!❤️

KaterinPareaux

What an accomplishment! Your journey has been inspirational, with all its undulations for good or ill… your story is colored by you. :-)

question for readers...

I will most likely be putting a final author's note type chapter at the end of my short story, but I was curious if you would be more interested in...

a more in depth "behind the scenes" kind of chapter, where I would include things regarding my inspiration, process in creating, little details I took time to put in and breaking down each chapter specifically?

Or would you prefer reading a shorter, brief overview kind of final author's note but having more author notes written at the end of each individual chapter?

Let me know what you think!❤️

manhattansunset

I would absolutely love to read a more in depth note! Your writing is always so beautiful, I’d find it so fascinating to learn where your inspiration comes from!
