I've written off and on all of my life. For a while I was deeply involved in technical writing and do various kinds of copywriting for projects. A while back I did a daily writing challenge, where I had to do a bit of creative writing based on a random topic. I was pleased with how easily the random topic became a clear picture in my head and turned into bits of prose in various styles. I thought at the time that I should play with some of these ideas. Perhaps this site will lead me to expand that exercise and get into regular fiction writing.

Influential authors for me include Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Stephen King, Robert Heinlein, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Orson Scott Card, Jim Butcher, Charles Dickens, Dean Koontz, Clive Barker, and many others. I love to read and I love to escape into fiction. Lately I've increased my reading through audio books. There is something wonderful about well-used language spoken aloud.
